Anyone ever use ultraviolet light for pythium instead of a water chiller?? Inline ultraviolet light $70, chiller $500. Would be much more cost effective both to purchase and run.
I understand what you’re suggesting, the downfall is you’ll kill good microbes too.
I did not think about that. So it would kill the good stuff like hydroguard and voodoo juice? So would it work if you were running a sterile system with like UCroot??
Yes it would.
Not sure what that is. Typo?
From what I’ve read you can run two different kinds of systems one with the hydroguard or voodoo juice type bacteria or what they call a sterile system which doesn’t have any of those kind of bacterias in it. One of the products I’ve read about is named “uc roots” . Not sure which is better to do. I do know you only have to add the hydroguard on res changes and the uc roots has to be added every few days I think. I’ve never used the uc roots but It’s supposed to make the water temperature not make a difference, So I’ve read of people having 80 degree water with no problems…
Seems like it would contain a sterilizer like peroxide or perhaps slf 100 … I live in florida and would be interested in that as I tried a bubble cloner I made and I kept getting slime as I couldn’t keep water below 78
You can be successful with a sterile system. But I don’t necessarily think that sterile systems are immune to root rot. I’m also not sure if a $70 UV system is capable of providing the level of sterilization required. We had UV filter on water water plant i was licensed for, but it definitely wasn’t budget friendly.
Alss I had an idea about using the uv as a sterilizer and still have mycos and bascilius…
Since they colonize the root system allow the plants roots to be colonized then at the uv light to the res only… the mycos and bacsilius won’t pass through the res anymore they are stuck to the roots they shouldn’t be traveling through the system any more am I right? I’m sure some do but there supposed to colonize the roots I dont see how they could be free flowing and colonize ming so it might work
Yes the last system I installed was like 900$ I installed it for 900 for a grand total of 1800
