Any UVB users out there?

I have reading up on adding UVB to the spectrum for higher levels. Has anyone ever used them in their grows?

I just got a dragon aquarium uvb bulb. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and to what success. I already have too much invested in platinum to get a new big light.

I have a friend who uses these bulbs all the time.

Nice. I’m going to try it. I will run it for 4 hours a day only. This is the light I have.

I have 2 p300 now btw… Most of the posts are saying this is the amount of time to run it. I am just looking for ideas.
The 2 lights I am running on are in beast mode. I’ve been growing for 2 months and I already have 2 so I’m well on the way to bigger and better things if needed. Do you have have a platinum or comparable?
I’m just looking for supplemental light for the full spectrum I am running not an entire new system. Just a side light of UVb and if anyone is running them is all I am wondering…

UVb range is dead on with this bulb. I’m gonna see what happens in the next week or so.

I was about to ask this same question about UV lighting as my own post but instead i will add my 2 cents here…
In my research about lighting I came across the following…

"Because plants have evolved over thousands of years using sunlight, their preferred spectrum for growing mimics the spectrum of sunlight, also known as full-spectrum light. Full-spectrum light includes wavelengths between 380 and 700 nanometers (nm). Nanometers measure wavelengths of light in billionths of a meter, the smaller the number, the shorter the wavelength. As stated above, plants have evolved to grow best with light within this spectrum, specifically light between 400 and 700nm; however, Cannabis also uses some Ultra-Violet (UV) components below 400nm for increased essential oil production and some Near Infra-Red (NIR) wavelengths above 700nm to help the plant compete with neighboring plants that may be shading it from the light source."

So i guess the answer is to raise THC / CBD potency?

Im not sure why its not in the forefront. Seems like more should and would be doing this. I’m not gonna wait I’m doing it now and I have a side by side to compare it to. Time will tell.

Do you know why they increase essential oils?
It burns the plant so it makes some sun cream to protect it self.

I just wanted to add that and agree adding it helps thats why I added UV to my light

How long do you run yours?

When the lights are on UV is on  lazy I know but I like simple.
I did read about putting the plants to sleep quicker using UV just before lights out and being able to run the lights for 14+ hours but still have the same effect of 12/12.

Does Uvb run hotter than CFL ? In reg store hard to find higher than 23watts lot of low watt LED bulbs guess they’re moving on from cfls cause of the Mercury (I think) that’s inside them. As I battle heat in the southern summer with leds I couldn’t imagine trying to regulate HID here

I’m not sure. I run mine while at work. They aren’t very kind on the eyes. I run from 10-2.

Just order a 10.0 UVB CFL bulb (on Wish @careg lol)

My question now tho, that’s the difference between the 5.0 and the 10.0?

Just the size, like wattage? Or does one put out more of something?

I see that too and have been wondering. If I see a difference I will use those as all my supplement and try both.

How did you find the added UV I am running LEC 315w which has pretty decent UV ratings just wondering if you found it of benefit?
