Transplant shock and nute burn

That’s my understanding. By itself no but once you include nutes/calmag/silica whatever then you do.

So I took and used about a whole gallon of distilled water to get run off I decided to test the water before going in and this is what I got
EC going in was 24.5
TDS going in was 15.5
PH going in was 5.8

I collected my runoff readings and this is what I got all readings where taken with a Apera PC60

EC out was 6.0
TDS out was 4.21
PH out was 5.98

Also to my knowledge I thought distilled water is supposed to have a 0 ec and tds?

I was told until you add to the water you can’t get accurate readings. I measure ppm I don’t know what those numbers you have equate to. Ph nearly at six is pretty good. I’m sure the smart folks will chime in

Well hopefully some others chime in here soon and hopefully if anything I “flushed” the soil a tad atleast I know the ph is in a good spot i wonder is im not adding enough cal mag looking over my plant again and it does almost seem like that but ud assume being in fresh soil i wouldn’t need calmag for atleast a couple weeks

For what it’s worth I add it every other feeding from the start. It’s pretty common with ff. They even sell it now of course. I’ve not read of many issues with adding too much of that but I see it all the time on these forums and I did it last run, waiting till it shows before adding it.

I just recalled your using distilled? RO (which someone said is basically the same) is void of many minerals some of which are cal-mag. FF support themselves told me that if using RO you can do their calmag 2 outta 3 feedings.

Def something to look at. Later

Yeah im using distilled witch is almost the same as RO i do have some botanicare calmag that I can use but at the same time I do plan on using Jacks 321 formula in the next few weeks so idk if I should start using calmag or what I should use that will go along with the jacks nutrients

I use jacks 321 and add 5ml calmag per gal. Every feeding, I know I can tweak jacks recipe for calmag but I don’t, I also use 50/50 ro& city water

I’ve been using distilled just switched to distilled mixed with my well water i wish I could use just my well water but it has a high EC of 940 and a TDS of 677 and a PH of 7.5 I just started mixing the 2 today to get me to a 500 tds

Also are you just using calmag during veg until you start nutes i believe i saw in another post you also use Happy frog and ocean forest or do you use anything else

I use the Cal Meg until mid flower around week for five. I am by no means an expert, and I’m not the best at measuring runoff so I usually wait around week three after using fresh soil to introduce nutrients. I also feed at 50% of their feeding schedule, most folks recommend using half or even a third.

I stop calmag and silica at 5 weeks and use happy frog only, when ppms drop under 1000 I use some advanced nutrients at 1/2 dose with jacks
