I attached a picture to get your guys’ expertise and advice. Just seeing how she’s looking. To my eyes it looks like she’s doing great and growing really well. I have been keeping my tents internal temp at 69-76F (this was recommended for this particular strain. Humidity still between 65-70%!
She is doing really well! Good job! I just harvested a TW. Good luck and keep’em growin!
Looks good keep up rhe good work
Looks like I am on the 4th node. I had someone tell me to top at the 5th nod. I’m sure in another week or so it’ll have the 5th node.
What is 5th node and by top it you mean clip it off???
And Why???
Clipping it off will produce two new branches where if you fim a plant you have a good chance of getting up to four to six new branches so more branches more buds
Would that be FIM at the 5th node still? I’ve had people say to do this as well. I’m really not opposed to either of the methods. What ever I can fit in a 2x2x4 space lol.
@BigJer what Aussie_autos mentioned.
I’m still fresh to growing but this method improves yield as many on the forums have mentioned something about topping or FIM (learned that this means Fuck I Missed). If you haven’t learned about it, definitely something to look into researching.
To be honest for you to get a good idea and on how to do it i would suggest that you watch a YouTube video How to: F.I.M and Top your marijuana plant - YouTube have a watch of this you can fim now at fourth node if you want to or the 5th node but u also fim ur branches .i do the whole plant but thats the way i do it
So for a white widow auto , should I top or just FIM it??? Beginner learning. Both plants 4 and 5 weeks old
As I understand it. FIM is considered lst. Which makes it a great method for autoflowers. With autos you wanna use a softer touch so they dont get shocked. Even 2 days of shock is alot of growth time for an auto.
Photos are a different story. If they go into shock it just pushes back you harvest day. Top top top some more on a photo. They handle HST much better.
@BigJer this should answrr your question.
@An-Cap1776 the big take away from this is that there isnt a definitive answer. There arent really any wrong answers. You should consider starting a journal and keeping all your questions and answers in one place. Tag me in it if you do, like to continue to watch your grow.
Whatever you do please top or fim … i didn’t on my 1st super skunk auto and she grew me out of space literally… i had to break/bend the top 1/3 over to keep her out of the light…
@Docnraq is absolutely correct @An-Cap1776 about not being any wrong answers, IMO. I usually start topping early until I have 8-16 mains. Then if one or two are getting too dominant I bend the top over and tie it with the soft green wire or pipe cleaner in an upside down horseshoe shape. Once the others catch up I untie it, and given time she will have straightened herself back up, and the canopy will be somewhat even.
I grow all photos outdoor in a long season climate. So theres room for error. I’ve super cropped a few times. If you do it right, bar the door Sally. If you do it wrong, kind of underwhelming. I pull the lower branches down and tie them. So their spread wide, then I do that with the next set 2 feet higher. Kind of making it as wide and even on the top as I can to ‘let the sunshine in.’ Like I said I’m outdoor and that makes it a lot easier if you mess up.
My plant I am growing is a photo a non-auto flower (feminized Trainwreck). But as directed from some I am going to just top at the 5th node once it has developed. I wanna play around with all the other methods on the next grow cycle I do though. Maybe learn the techniques for auto flowering plants.
There isnt alot of difference between the two, as far as training techiques go. The only true difference between photo and auto is the flip of the photo period. Autos dont require it and photos only veg till it happens. Autos arent guranteed to be faster even. The 5th node isnt about photo or auto, its just the best place. There are a few reasons for that and they are all about the health and vigor of the plant in question. The same reasons not to top apply the same to either type as well. Your plant looks great @An-Cap1776 keep up the good work.
If I am not mistaken this is some of the first signs of flowering? Small white pistil shown in the pic. Is this usually the time to switching nutrients to flowertime fertilizer?
Not really. The two hairs coming out are actually telling you, it’s a female.
Preflowers will be near the top most often. @Graysin @CooterJuice have either of you got preflowers picture?
I see a little white hair in the crack in between the limb and stalk
