That plant has been topped…easy sleazy…watch one, do one, teach one now!
I’m seeing a lot of conflicting information on topping. Some say wait until at least the 5th node. Some way do it at 2. Some say 3.
It’s confusing to me to see so many different methods. I’m just wondering which is the safest route to go.
Idk these are autos gotta do em early I guess
It can all depend on so many other things too.
Strain, grow area, temps, humidity, what grow method you’re using, what nutrients, what medium you’re using, and it all comes down to what techniques you plan on using to prune. If you’re mainlining a plant, you would want to top after the 2nd node. If growing what I like to call, the 4way, you would top after 3rd node.
Also, people like to experiment, like me. So you’ll always hear of different experiences because some choose to shake things up and do what others suggest not to. But honestly, you can always find a consensus agreement on things. Meaning, the safest time and most suggested time to top is anytime after 4-5 nodes. Why? Because most people do this obviously, so they can say from experience that it works well. I like to try things differently here and there. I think we should sometimes honestly. Can’t always follow the line
So I ended up with 2 good shoots that I’ve already got pinned down for horizontal growth, 1 that is off doing its own thing on the side, and the middle shoot looks like it’s growing 2 or 3 little offshoots. Not to mention the offshoots from below the main branch in 4 directions! This one is gonna fill the bucket FAST!
Had a little accident today. Doing a little adjustment on the training and snapped open one of the 3 tops at the base. It’s not snapped off, just opened it up a little, so I covered it with some masking tape, that’s all I had handy.
One of the other tops looks like this one did before I bent it, the one coming out the bottom, you can see how it looks a little cracked. When I bent, it just kind of snapped open a little and exposed some insides.
Do you have a pair of grow glasses @kushpa?
No
Grow Glasses¿?! @ktreez420
@kushpa way to go jackaramus lol that sucks. I Also am a big donkey ass, i came home after a 14 hr day and checked my ladies and they all looked like they had cancer, yellowing wilting twisting leaves all over all my beauties ,i started chopping all the uglies off ,in my thoughts i believed this would help me see if it was getting worse i.e ( new dead leaves tomorrow ) so i removed what was dead, then i feared i may shock the plants by chopping so many, in my haste and tired mind i clipped a small top ,that was my Big Baphoon move of the day
Had enough to make a fat rabbit a salad i would take care of that wound better. @ktreez420 gotch chur back on that i think
Great topic.
We all debate about topping Autuoflower plants. I cannot wait to see you final output.
This will be cool because I can compare it to my latest SS auto harvest.
Happy growing
Yea you know, a pair of glasses specially designed for grow rooms and HID/LED lighting.
I only ask because you can place the glasses in front of your camera lens and it will filter out the light. It’s so hard to actually see a plant when it’s under LED or HID. @4play
I never thought of that. Now I’m gonna have to buy a pair of damn glasses. Shit! Lol
Haha yea it’s what I’ve been doing for a long time now, makes your pictures easier for everyone to see. But really I bought the glasses for my own eyes lol! It works great over your phone or camera lens as well though. Allowing you to take pictures while your lights are still on. I noticed @careg just got some LED glasses and you can tell in his pics now.
Working wonders on my eyes!
Very cool! Or, I could just flip on a couple of the bajillion daylight CFLs hanging in the tent!!
I’ve got a pair of UV sunglasses, so I tried it, very interesting, my camera took just one photo with the glasses, but the exact same pic, a second later without the glasses, and the auto-HDR kicked in, so it took TWO photos.
