Timer malfunction, need help!

Question from a fellow grower:

The plants were four weeks into their cycle when the timer malfunctioned and stayed on 24 hours a day eight days in a row. I immediately gave the plants 24 hours of darkness and put them back on the 12-12 schedule.
My question for your expertise is, when do you feel the buds will reach maturity? Approximately two weeks longer than originally anticipated? Or eight weeks beyond the point when the resumed the 12-12 schedule?
My plants are Indica dominant strain grown indoors and a hydroponic Deep water culture setup with a normal bud cycle of 8 weeks.

This will vary greatly on whether plants were in flower showing pistils or not if they weren’t start count once they are. If they were then start count once new growth starts to form far easier than trying to revert back to veg schedule from full flower

Thank you for your response but it’s somewhat confusing to me, I understand the first section and yes I was four weeks into an eight week cycle so not only are pistols forming but buds are well formed. What I don’t understand is when you say “start from the point new growth appears” … The new growth appeared during the 5th week when I knew the timer had malfunctioned. So am I looking at a one week delay in maturity (ie 9 weeks) from original start? Or are you saying I’m looking at 12 to 13 weeks (ie 8 weeks past the 5th week when new growth started). If we are looking at the second scenario, wouldn’t the established buds mature before the new growth?

Are new buds still appearing? this is classed as new growth not just new leaves because after 8 days of 24/0 light your plant could be reverted (dialled back to veg) if new pistils and buds are now forming then continue count like that week never happened. It’s hard to explain without seeing the plants and at 4 weeks into bloom it can take weeks to revert it to veg if it has no signs of diing buds and is still adding more buds than steady as you were

the room is pretty much divided into 1/3 of each of these pictures…

so a 1/3 of the plants is the 1st pic ; 1/3 of the plants the 2nd picture and 1/3 of the plants is the 3rd picture.

(ie only certain buds show each type of growth. All pics were taken within one minute of each other.)

As far as your question of “are new buds appearing” , these pictures were taken at the end of the 6th week, other than the new growth you see the buds do not appear to be getting taller but merely fattening up.

So would you say they should mature 3 weeks from now (2 more weeks of 8 weeks cycle plus 1 week of time malfunction) or do you feel the new growth is going to add more time to maturity.

If there is anyone that has had similar experiences would you mind sharing the details specific to how much additional time to maturity after malfunction?

In the first picture they appear to have started to revert to Veg this could pose a challenge because not all of your plants sent up new shoots so some will be back on schedule and others will be trying to start flower over again this could likely be addressed by cutting off the new shoots so the plants quit wasting energy on them

When a plant wants to vegetate if you cut of the shoots won’t it just start putting shoots out in other places?

Actually no it will signal the plant to send energy to next highest limb in this case buds
