This strain is weird, tall and thin

The last group of seeds I purchased have been strange. The same growing conditions, everything the same. All of these seeds grow tall and thin with branches only every 6-8 inches. Hardly any yield. A three foot plant only has 5-6 branches .
Different from any plant I have ever grown, really not worth while.

You didn’t mention what strain and seed bank?

The seedling pictured appears to be starved for light.

Any pics of the plants that your referring to?

the light is about 12" above the plant

The picture is included in my post.

Oh, the strain is Blue Dream

Light starved.

With 6 nodes and hardly any yield? That one in the pic has at least 2 weeks left. Im just messing with ya. Ive had a few issues this summer. Mostly with autos. I think the heat is bringing out the ruderalis genes?

Do you have 10,000 lux or 200 ppdf or 40 watts of light energy on this plant?
This is the question. Show us the light you have and it’s power rating.

You must be using regular lights not grow lights. Your problem is definitely lighting. Here’s some info I found that may help :victory_hand:

You need at least 30 to 50 true watts of LED or HID light per square foot of your grow space to successfully grow a cannabis plant from seed to harvest. A small single-plant micro-grow typically requires a minimum light output of about 75 to 100 true watts.

Light Types and Power

  • LED lights: Use 30 to 50 true watts per square foot.
  • CFL bulbs: Provide at least 100 actual watts for one small plant.
  • HID lights: Need a 150-watt HPS or MH bulb minimum.
  • True watts: Check the actual power draw, not the equivalent wattage.

Space and Coverage

  • Small box or bucket: 75 to 100 true watts fits a single mini plant.
  • Two-foot tent: 100 to 150 true watts covers the whole footprint.
  • Three-foot tent: 200 to 300 true watts ensures healthy growth.

This is the same grow light I have used for two years, no change. The only change has been the seed planted, I have planted 3 of them and they all have the same characteristics. All other seeds for the past two years have grown very well.

What brand and wattage light do you have? And how old is it?

:victory_hand::love_you_gesture:

Light is a Beelux 1000 W LED full spectrum UV/IR Operating power 105W, has veg/flower options

It’s the light.

Lights fade. We cant see it. Ours eyes suck but the plants can. 2 years hard run on cheap diodes=weak growth. GOOD diodes 5 years. GREAT like HLG can make 7. @dbrn32 is da guy to chat with on hardware durability. Just my thoughts. And 105w split between veg/flower switches wont cut it. Not for some decent yields.

Need light and i would burry it too @TimK

I have 770 available watts in my tent and a $31 tester to verify when and not if they start to fade.
Going on 3 years. Still ok but it will happen and I will be replacing them.
I also run a dedicated $22 amp and watt monitor for the lights just because I had an extra one from diagnosing electrical issues on rv and class A

Well then!

@TimK likely that light has lost its oomph. If wasn’t too expensive and you were happy with it before, I’d ust get a new one. If you want to upgrade, I think for around 150 you could get a good equivalent HLG. I see your point that you’re growing smaller plants and don’t need a lot of watts. Just s suggestion. The HLG or other high end low watt light would last you longer.
