please help this is spreading to my other two healthy plant I will be mortified if I loose them PLEASE HELP me I greatly appreciate all the help!
you need to know this very few growers ever go by what the bottle says we adjust and tailor to what the plants tell us they want. I would say calibrate ph meter to be sure it’s right then retest get some Cal-mag but mostly I suspect your ph meter may need calibration and that you get a ppm/tds meter so you can rule out toxicity from over feeding
I wish I understood ec- TDS I calibrate my meter every time in the solution and during the mixing I tested in either the 7 or 4 just to se if it is off and I use drops to Double check I can’t get a ppm meter till next week unfortunately I was going by roots organics feeding chart I started with an 1/8 of The nutrients and worked my way up until the recommended dose which is only been fed full dose for two feedings the problem started before I started adding more nutrients I am a newbie I wish I could give you more information i’m going to get some Cal- mag and try adding that too I don’t see very much nutrient burn on the Tips just very little from when I first started giving nutrients i’m really bad at typing and any kind of electronic device I make my kids call me instead of texting me lol @Donaldj
It’s all good your typing is fine and many time we don’t see full extent of damage until weeks later. With ph meter it is always best to set to 2 points 4 7 if it is slightly out at either by .1 it is close enough but will always be far more accurate than drops since even a difference in light bulb spectrum in the room you are using to test in can throw out colour of test. A accurate ppm gives you an idea whether soil is loaded with salts Dried minerals if the plant needs feeding or not.
Having balance in nutrients is just as important I wouldn’t flower a plant that isn’t healthy by choice
TDS stands for total dissolved solids. A measurement of the (dissolved) salts, minerals, and metals within the liquid you’re testing. It’s measured in parts per million (ppm). I bought my TDS meter for like $20 on Amazon and it works fantastic so it won’t break the budget.
I do calibrate the meter every time with 4 and 7 calibrating solution the Hannah meter stinks I know it gives messed up readings sometimes so I keep the fluid in the cup and as I’m adjusting the water I will stick it in one of the solutions either 4 or 7 to see if it is off I should’ve just added this to the topic I already had made I took the 45 minute drive to hydro store I wanted to keep everything organic but I got what I could afford at the moment it was free i was told in the other topic that roots organics original was considered a soiles median to ph to 5.8-6.0 so I ph to 5.9 the guy at store said anything in the 5s is to low to bring ph back up to 6.0- 6.5 no higher than 6.5 and ad the cal-mag I just watered yesterday ate 5.9 and this morning I noticed the leavs on my heathy is starting to get same spots I scraped up some money and I’m going back to the Hydro store to get a TDS meter today should I cut off the infected leaves? I really appreciate all of your help I have to get medicated right now and relax I can’t water till tomorrow I don’t want to drowned them I will figure out what the TDs is tomorrow and let you know what it was thank you all:sweat: @Donaldj@HCHGC@Myfriendis410 @
If it’s bad pH to nute burn then yes, flush absolutely with pH balanced water. Without a TDS meter or effective pH meter though, you can’t say for sure what the issue is and you will have a hard time effectively balancing your water.
I agree with the drops being less accurate than an E-meter but in your case I would use the pH drops to balance for now until you can get an accurate, reliable meter. Theyre cheap, easy to find and will at least get you in the ball park. At this point I don’t believe a good flush will hurt anything. I would also wait to trim your plants until they are starting to show some improvement. Trimming can stress a plant out and may kill a plant that’s already struggling.
I typically reserve those ph levels for coco or hydro I grow in pro-mix and 6.1-6.8 rarely anything lower or higher if using organic fortified blends 6.5 is target I would let them dry then correctly ph for next watering
I’m using roots organic original potting soil I water every 4 days water till I get about 10% run off I go by the roots organic master feed schedule minus the foliar sprays it calls for 5 mL of each product every watering i’m going to flush to correct pH tomorrow then start over adding cal-mag to the regaman run off I did test came out at 6.3 but my meter is junk I ordered a new TDS ec tester and a new ph tester it won’t be here until wensday when I get it and find out correct ph and ppm i can give more accurate info again I apricoate everyone’s help
I might suggest that you not water on a set schedule. Allowing the plant to see wet to dry promotes root development and prevents root rot. Hopefully that is not the case here. Many growers will feel the weight of the pot and water only when it feels light. A cheap moisture probe can be invaluable early on to establish what a damp pot vs a dry pot feels like.
As you gain experience with this hobby you will find its surprisingly easy to grow pretty plants. Some are a bit finicky but you will learn to read the signs and the plant will tell you if it’s happy and what it needs.
I shouldn’t have said I water every four days with run off even though the plants are under the Scroge I still lift the pot a little bit and stick my finger in the holes at the bottom to see if they’re moist I only water till run off every other watering sometimes they will go 5 to 6 days with no water I would never let my babies sit in muddy stale water it still could be a root problem i’m praying it’s not there still moist I think they can wait until I get my new meters on Wednesday then I will flush and take a PPM reading of the very first run off and ph
happy fathers day to any fathers the ladies are exactly 9 weeks from seed ok so I flushed the sick plants my plants were telling me what they wanted when I fist saw the spots I said that’s cal-mag deficiency I have read so much but wen your new you always doubt yourself and ask and I only had 1/2 the I information you need to help figure out exactly wats wrong turns out I was feeding them to death minus Cal mag wen I took the first ppm Reading on runoff it came out at 1100 ppm on one plant 900 ppm on one and 680 ppm on the healthiest one my ph water going in at 6.5 first runoff on all was 6.8 the last gallon of water I added cal mag and a seedlings does of fresh nutes I mix everything in a bucket so they all get the same dose the color is coming back I’m armed with a ppm meter now I can try to feed a lot more accurate and give individual care I need to flip soon thers no more room tell me what you think my nex moove should be thanks for all your help greatly appreciated :thumb-sup @Donaldj@Myfriendis410@HCHGC@Majiktoker img src=“//cdck-file-uploads-global.s3.dualstack.us-west-2.amazonaws.com/growingmarijuana/original/3X/5/5/5579dbe20e3a68dc267fbb5e14ab5d9f9a1391be.jpg” width=“374” height=“500”>
