Thank you so much Jewels! I love trying new things out to see how they work
It’s day 40 for this runt cheese autoflower. She’s looking a little spotted. I think she needs a little more cal mag and megacrop. I changed her bucket. I should have done it yesterday but babysitting the 3 year old grandson kept me busy
TDS is now up to 1000~ pH 5.8~water temp 67.
air temp 76 RH 70% her water temp will come up shortly. Just mixed up from jugs of RO sitting on my cold basement floor. I think I’ll keep them on a shelf, at least until summer hits. Bucket water temperature has been hanging around 69-70 daytime. First thing in the morning temp is 67-68 right after lights on.
I’m hoping the increase in cal mag and megacrop help her out.
I made a light block out of some scrap packaging material (foam)
Gotta call from a buddy who travels a lot. Seem he picked up some seeds while out on the road. Can’t wait until he returns. I’ll be growing my first photo( Cinderella 99 and some more autos, Bubble kush and he couldn’t remember the rest while driving. Woohoo!!! I’m so excited
The bottom two rows of leaves get beat up pretty bad because they are tender when young and will burn a bits. I usually cut these off pretty quick to provide some ari flow to the bottom of the plant and stem. I don’t fret if they brown up. If it spreads upward I would start to worry.
Yay you got a Cindy 99!! And I’m growing a bubba Kush now that is 48 days old. Congratulations Jewels!
@GreenJewels hay put 1 tps of epsom salt per 5 gal water bucket she look to have a sulfur Deficiency and it will give you the meg as well rust spots are mag and sulfur not always calmag so do the Epsom salt for the next 2 weeks you only need to add it one to 2 times per week depending on how fast and much they are drinking it will send the ppm up some as well but it’s a good up due to the sulfur also should help with root discoloring roots are alittle dark for the age of plant that is the color you want the roots when you are in flower do to all the nuits they have been sitting in also 1000 ppm is a bit high for them they look like they should be around 750-850 ppm till you are rdy to flower I never have ppm over 900 in veg and I cap out at 1200 in flower mabe 1250 if they aren’t burning
With autoflowers, that slow down from root shock could cause stunting. Not always, but it could, just so you’re aware of that potential.
I don’t grow autos so I’m no expert on them I only grow photos. I just zoomed in on them def add the Epsom salt and get the ppms in the 350-500 range you are only at 3 nodes starting the 4th they are now starting the veg phase most photos don’t start veg till 3 nodes so I’m thinking autos should be same atleast on that front
Mmmmm, cheese! Looks like you and the bubble bucket are getting things figured out.
Are you checking the ec/ppm of your megacrop or just measuring via tsp? How about your calmag?
Is that 40 days from seed crack or since you see leafs
@blackthumbbetty I’m checking PPM’s I’ve figured out that 1/2 tsp of MC per gallon of RO gives me a ppm of 400. I’ve been practicing on my tomatoes, cilantro and lettuce. Going to get some strawberries going soon
The next cheese will look better. This is my rookie bubble bucket grow. Hopefully I get better at this.
@Missiles, the Cinderella 99 has me so excited. My first photo . I’m anxiously awaiting your grow harvest of bubble kush. I want to see how you like it
Thanks @BigDaddyCain for the info. I’ll adjust and get her some Epsom salts . I appreciate everyone’s help your all a wealth of knowledge
I thought I had it figured out, myself, but then Sunday night I put my 1/2 tsp MC into my gallon of ro. This usually gets me to .55-.61 ec. Luckily, I check every time, b/c my ec was up to .85! Yikes!
Your girl definitely is not being burned, but possibly the ppms aren’t as high as they need to be? I think for late veg, they recommend something like 1.1 for the ec of just the Mega Crop and water mix?
I start with 3 gallons of RO with ppm 50. I add my hydrogaurd, then my cal mag I add to 250 ppm then add the MC to get it to 1000 so 200 PPM’s is cal mag, 750ppm is MC. I do love the fact that if I screw it up, it’s easy to throw her in a fresh bucket. With soil, I have to flush any screw ups
Love it, too. Oh, I messed up? Time to dump you out and start fresh.
That’s one of the reasons I went to my rdwc system so much cleaner but you can kill everything at drop of a hat that’s the down side soil gives you the buffer where hydro there is no buffer but I don’t see you in late veg you are still super young but again I’m talking photos I have not and probably never will grow autos I don’t need that fast of a turn over lol
I can explain how to get you ppm measurements right if you want
Well this auto isn’t my norm. It’s pretty dang small. I wish I knew what exactly I did to stunt it. All my others were much bigger at 40 days. I’ve never grown a cheese either. She’s not flowering yet so that’s good. I really don’t care how long it takes her. I’m gonna get it right eventually. I really want to get good at hydro. It’s so much easier on this old body. With a drain right next to my tent, I am spoiled. Now that I have even more seeds coming I feel better about this little midget girl. Ill grow more
@GreenJewels ok here is the way ppm can work if your ro is at say 50 ppm and u need to put say 250 ppm in it that puts you at 300 ppm before nuits and say you want to be at 750 ppm total so 750 turns into 450 left for nuits and say you have 4 different nuits you want to put in. most of the 450 will be used by your base nuits if you are useing a grow micro bloom system and you are in veg you will add roughly 200 ppm of micro and 200 ppm of grow now you have 50 ppm left for what ever else you want to put in. now keep in mind of what your plant needs at the stage it’s in so in veg you will need more of the NP and not as much K and flower u need more PK and less of the N. So it gets confusing when you try to micro manage the NPK but if you get it down you will love hydro. I hope I didn’t confuse you to much with the NPK and numbers they are estimated numbers. The numbers will change depending on size of containers the water is in as well as temps of water and if I remember right you where around 60 water temp for a week or so that is what stunted the growth most times you want water sweet spot is 65-68 never higher then 72
Thanks, for the information. Nope, not confusing . I’ll get better with those NPK numbers I hope. Along with PPM’s . I’ve seen some of you good growers spout off those NPK ratios like it’s easy. Your helping me learn and I’m doing a lot of reading too. Right now all they have is the cal-mag, megacrop and as soon as I get back from the store later I’ll add Epsom salts. Even though they say megacrop has all a plant needs, I’m thinking of getting some Greenleaf nutrients bud explosion( PK boost) and some Sweet candy . Bet your right on about my stunting her with low temps, growth did take off once I got the temp up. I appreciate the help. I’m already loving hydro, just gotta get better at it.
@Angie Here’s my cheese auto runt journal
Thanks @GreenJewels
