This will be my second grow, first one and this next grow will be outdoors in 5gal buckets. The first grow came out very good for unknown bag seed and starting out totally unprepared and no real gardening knowledge but HUGE THANK YOU to everyone’s help in this group! This grow though will be Amnesia Haze AF’s seeds I bought from this site. (Currently waiting for mail delivery) this time would like to be a little more prepared and of course grow awesome buds! Thinking of trying Frog farms ocean floor for the potting soil. Now if I remember correctly the soil should be 6-7 PH? And there is something about ppm? Can someone explain the more technical terms and dumb it down as much as possible for please? (I didn’t finish high school and even that was about 40 yrs ago)
Also how can test these things, where can I get the testers and without breaking the bank? Thanks again everyone for the knowledge you’ve shared with me, I truely appreciate it.
Soil ph sweet spot 6.5 I believe, but yeah those ranges should work. I.like to keep line between 6.3 to 6.8
Amazon is a pretty good place to get a good ph and tds meter.

Yes you want to check the water goin in and to be able to check the runoff when needed
@Wishbone yes @Hawkeye_diesel indicated you need to adjust the pH to the proper level. Checking the runoff also helps you listen to your plants needs. A lot of this depends on what soil you grow your plants in and nutrients. The tds measures the ppm of total disolved solids and is a way to calculate when your plants need nutrients. The pH of the water helps the plants to properly absorb those nutrients!
So if my water PH is off how do I adjust up or down as needed? My first grow I just used water out of the garden hose lol

If you’re growing organically outside I wouldn’t stress your water ph. It’s worth testing your runoff with some drops (you can get an the pet store) to just make sure things aren’t completely out of whack, but IMO you’ll get in more trouble bouncing your ph all over the place then just leaving it alone. The nutrient availability pH range is much wider in organic soil than when using hydro and/or chemical fertilizers. Just use a quality grow medium, keep it natural, and you won’t have to be fooling around with the ph.
