I’m growing in soil using organic fertilizer. My plants were growing great. When they entered the flowering stage I started to get brown spots and yellowing leaves. I posted some pictures and some more experienced growers said it looked like a calcium deficiency. So my question is, when I do a runoff test, can I use tap water that is properly adjusted for ph? I mean specifically for a ec or ppm test. Do I record the ec or ppm before it goes through the roots, and then subtract from the runoff number? Is there anyway to know what nutrients are in your runoff? How do I decipher and apply those numbers to my grow? It seems like my buds are not growing as much as I feel they should. Admittedly this is my first grow, so I could just be panicked for no reason. They are currently 6 Weeks into flower. I have been feeding cal- mag, flower fuel, and top dressing with plantone 5-3-3. This is so confusing, because everything was going so well until these leaves started looking bad.
You can use ph’d tap water. I let my water sit in jugs with covers off for at least 24 hours. I was using ec to calculate, but went to ppm, easier to figure out.
Yes. you have it figured out with the ppm. The best way to tell what is missing or lockout
I’m still trying to figure out this organic thing myself, but my understanding is you can not measure ppm with organic because they break down slowly, so you can’t accurately measure them, and they’ll always show a crazy high ppm. Don’t take this as gospel, I’m just going off what I’ve been reading.
I grow organically and I have never, nor will I ever, check that kinda stuff. Idk. I just don’t feel like it is necessary in my type of situation. I guess J May tend to underfeed my ladies from times to time.
I like to grow the soil. Let the plant fall inline.
Happy growing…
