Switching the clock - what's the best method?

So there might be a life change for me coming down the pipe, not sure yet, but if so, I’ll need to make some changes. This presents a couple situations with my grow that I need to address, one being the light cycle, and I need some of your expert advise, fellow growers.

For my photos, I currently run my lights during the day. 5am to 11pm on veg, 11am to 11pm in flower. If this event happens, I’ll need to swap and run my lights on at night and off during the day. I think maybe lights on from 6pm to 6am. I’m not too concerned with the 2 ladies I have in veg, I think I can just leave the lights on through the transition and I don’t think they’ll skip a beat. But for the ones in flower. which do y’all think is do-able & best?

  1. All at once? The lights would be off for 19 hours, from 11pm the evening prior, to 6pm the next day.
  2. Gradually? Say, like 13 on, 12 off for, what would that be, 7 days.
  3. Is there another/better method?

I’m thinking #2, although this may be the harder of the two to accomplish. What do y’all think?

I was going to make a poll where y’all could vote. I read in a thread once where @dbrn32 (I think) posted instructions on how to create one, but I forgot and couldn’t figure it out. I started searching but I’m a little pressed for time. I need to get my :donkey: outside do some landscape prepping for this batch of rain we have coming.

I would go with #1. Keep it simple.

Yep, just rip it. No need to leave a bandaid hanging half on for a day.

Just change it, 19 hours of dark won’t hurt the flowering, plants count light as hours out of 24, so you’ll be fine, they will take it fine!

Sorry just seen your post and it looks like there is already a poll up. If you would like in the future, just click reply button and select the following

It’s pretty self explanatory from there but if you have issues tag any of the mods and we’ll be happy to help.

Thanks for the advise everyone @merlin44 @Riskguy @kaptain3d @noddykitty1 @StonedCold13 @Growdoc @dbrn32

#1 it is!! I didn’t think the prolonged darkness was going to be a problem, but wanted to make sure.

So I don’t see that new “Solved” label anywhere on this thread but if I did, I’d have to give it to @merlin44 since you were the first to chime in and everyone was in agreement, but I think you all deserve it. :+1: Thanks again.

I love that!

Thanks @StonedCold13 @dbrn32 I knew there was a way but I didn’t have time to research. Worked out on the property for the rest of the day. I just now found time to sit down to read the responses…and now my better half is dragging me out the door to run errands in the city. Geez!

Keep the ladies happy, that’s what I say. :potted_plant:
