Sunlight and LED Grow Light

I grow Auto Gold Leaf and N/Lights in a double glazed centrally heated greenhouse out in the sticks of Western Wale UK.

My question is as follows, can I use a 400 watt LED grow light on my 2 x kids who have just flowered, when its gloomy and direct daylight is in short supply also what height from the canopy of green.
I thank you.

If you have a true 400 watt light, I would look at about twenty one inches From canopy . Good luck :victory_hand: gold leaf one of my favorites.

How can I find out if my ‘inherited’ LED is a true 400watt light ?
The instructions did not make it wtth the LED .
I Googled the heck out of what is written on it to no luck.
See below.

If I was guessing I would say it is not a true 400 watt light .I could not find info on in it. IN the future look at HLG lighting, good product. Best bang for your buck.
Cannabis plants are actually pretty tough when it comes to cold weather.

Can you show us a picture of the light.
Maybe we could tell from that.

DRsDank,

thank you for replying, enclosed are 5 x pics of the LED unit purported to be 400 watts. The .cn is the web address for China so all bets are off when it comes to being a true 400watt unit I guess.
Regards James ( it weighs a lot

Thank you for all your great input in this matter.

I shall be purchasing HLG lights as they sell them here in Britain.

Here are 5 x snaps of the weighty beast from .cn (China)

I’m sure it will grow and flower a plant.
but that light will not produce solid dence buds like a quality light will.
Good luck :victory_hand:

They’re ALL made in China, or at a minimum, the boards and controllers are.

But that little thing ain’t no 400w light. Maybe 100w at best.

Its the same when i eat Chinese food, I am hungry one hour later.
I guess there was a reason why the owner passed it on to me being the Gomer Pyle of Pot Growing.
Many thanks for your fine Karmic advice, its HLG lighting for this boy !

Lol! I have a diploma from the School for the Mechanically Disinclined. And if Jim Nabors and Rock Hudson had a son, they would’ve named him Rock Pyle.

250-watt Migro Aray from Ireland, but all components are made in China. I love the design because it totally covers my 3’x3’x6’ tent’s 9 ft² footprint and the controller stays outside the tent, keeping temperature down.

Left, a good “American” 150-watt light that can cover 3-4 ft². Made in China. Right, a cheap 106-watt Chinese light from Lowe’s. Good for one plant. I use them together in a 2’x3’x5’ tent.

Are they economical to use as electricity cost a shed load here in Wales ?
I really admire your gardening skills and I draw inspiration from what I see in your post.
Om Dude !

Absolutely. LEDs use a fraction of the electricity compared to “old school” grow lights. Appreciate the compliments, although I still consider myself more novice than expert.

Hi
in the event of power outages, which we get a many, how long can a grow last before starting to degrade/ die ?
The winter storms have come very early here and the juice went off in the last 5 mins of The Sopranos last night at 11..55pm and has just come back on.
It was nice having a few pipes by candlelight but it made me think about LED’s and electricity.
