Starting my 1st clone try

best tip I can give you is heat pad under pots I have my own set method of cloning which differs greatly from some others but fits same rules keep them warm and moist not too much light.

Thanks Don. I guess Iā€™m going to have to invest a little more. Hopefully
with this unusual weather here I can get them to start rooting. It is warm
in my Grow room around 80.

Hello Peachfuzz. Well I picked up some Rapid Start and gave them a little. I put the bags on and put holes in the bottom of the cups. The bags have been on for about 8 hourā€™s and I think I see some improvement. What do you do feed them every other watering? RDG1951

@Paranorman says that he likes to feed the crap out of his clones ā€¦ but really they have to start rooting First ā€¦Once you have Roots you can gradually feedā€¦ itā€™s almost like the soil needs to be semi damp but not down to where they donā€™t have any oxygenā€¦ thatā€™s why I believe @Paranorman uses vermiculite and perliteā€¦ because heā€™s able to keep his medium super moist with water in there at least a half inch Iā€™m sure and then that allows his plants to root because they get so much oxygen ā€¦ Iā€™m sure that the soil that youā€™re using already has enough nutrients in it to survive the Clone for a little while after it gets roots so I wouldnā€™t be too concerned with putting nutrients in there just yet and make sure that youā€™re not over-watering ā€¦ because they donā€™t have any Roots yet , if anything poor the water on the outside edge of the cup lightly to get the plant to root fasterā€¦

:v: :sunglasses:

Okay thanks your a peachā€¦fuzz. I put the holes in the bottom to make
sure the soil isnā€™t too wet. Now I will just spray the leaves for a few
days and that should help get started with the rootā€™s. Thanks for your
input. RDG(Chromie)1951

Hey @Rdg1951 @Paranorman has a great thread on cloning.

Im gonna go look for the link. He told me to use rapid rooters for cloning thoughā€¦

Rapid rooters
Super thrive and take root powder were the three things he told me to get for cloning.

5 day old clones

I cut a 2 liter bottle in half and made a dome for mine, worked really well with rooting hormone

misting for a week or so and had great rooting pic is new clone in dome and one that is now 2 wks old just transplanted out of cup in 1.5 gal bucket

Mist less take my word for it they will root faster so long as there is humidity on the dome they have enough moisture in the air

Yes. They can root in only dark. Ive done it. Like a seed.

Wow Dank I never thought of that. Iā€™ll have to get me a couple two liter
bottles. Not a big soda drinker since I have sugar but Iā€™ll figure
something out. Thanksā€¦RDG(Chromie)1951

There are other things in those big soda bottles. Iā€™m pretty sure my local store sells seltzer or something in 2 liter bottles as well. It really is a good little DIY tip!

Good morning bob31. Iā€™ll go and check it out. Sounds like a poor manā€™s
someā€¦ Just made for meā€¦Lol. itā€™s amazing how something that simple can
be over looked. RDG(Chromie)1951

Lilā€¦! Well I do feed the crap out of my clones, but not my cuttings

( I noticed my clones yellowing and I realize that Iā€™m treating them like plants from seed and theyā€™re not, theyā€™re fully grown mature plants as soon as they put a root down so now I feed them heavily and the yellowing has stopped completely )

I use 50/50 perlite Vermiculite for starting seeds only, because rapid rooters and Pete pods in my opinion are too wet and I think they drowned seeds

But all my cloning is done in Rapid rooters they sit in water as per the instructions on the rapid Rooter bag, I donā€™t usually pH the water but I just started to pH it and I keep an airstone in it now but I donā€™t think I need to do either of those, I never did before and I get 100% no matter what, I suspect itā€™s got a lot to do with the propagation mat that keeps it all at 81Ā° steady ?

p.s., I never mist anything, ever. The bottom heat keeps the humidity at the proper level. If people are going to clone on a regular basis I highly recommend $35-40 investment for a propagation setup on Amazon (in my area 1 clone sells for more than that)

Thanks bud. I have theses girls in a rookwool cube setting in soil. I
drilled small holes in bottom of cup. Then if needed later I can put water
in thru bottom. I think the more I clone the better Iā€™ll get at it. I
appreciate all the information. Everyone is so helpful. RDG(Chromie)1951
