Squidshef first topic

Can I send you a pic .. I just stuck a seed i found in a pot and for the 1st time in my life I actually have buds .. I know it’s sativa from pix but the buds were just starting around may7 .. but I can’t believe it’s taking this long for the hairs to curl and be what I think is mature ( from pix) .. I put it outside every day .. inside at night but with trees and clouds it doesn’t get full sun beaming all day .. but allot.. I don’t want to go past the day either .. thanks for any help

This is a new topic, and yes people will see it. Your original post was in an older topic but I moved it.

Your plant looks like it’s at least close to being ready to harvest. Are you able to get a couple of clear pictures that are close enough to a few buds to tell the condition of trichomes?

Welcome to the forum.
Nice buds. Zoom in give us a really close-up pic into the buds.
Sometimes mine are slow I suspect 'cuz of low energy. Yours is healthy anyway and the harvest window will last more than a few days so dont worry you wont go over

Welcome to the forum! Id say youre really close based on the red pistils. You do wanna look in closer but if you cant, id give it 10-14 days. You did really well to get to this point. :clap:t4:

Your plant is looking great :+1: You will want to eventually get some type of scope to get better pictures of the trichomes. I use this, very easy to get some cool shots of your trichomes.

This is from a recently harvested plant.

Sorry I was away all day. Light reflects weird sometimes on the trichomes with the camera phones but you do look like you are moving into the harvest window soon. I would think at least another week by what I can see. If you can swing it those digiscopes mentioned in an earlier post really do help get the timing just right. They are usually under $30 and readily available on Amazon.

This is what you are looking for:

Feel free to keep checking in with us with more pictures.

Welcome to the forums @Squidchef . This post is only showing as 1 day old so it will take a minute to get some eyes on it. Great looking so far, nice work! I agree with the above sentiments, looks about a week away just from available pictures. Strong +1 to what @patrick1960 said about the microscope. Be sure to get one that has that little stand to hold it. I bought one without it and it’s hard to keep a steady hand at high magnification to get good pictures. You can, but it’s easier with the stand for sure.

Best of luck and Welcome again.

Is that an autoflower? If so it looks fantastic wondering what type of soil and fertilizer you use.

If you’re in a hurry you could probably harvest this plant. I would probably wait to check it next weekend though if that would work.

It’s like everything else that you do though @Squidchef .It’s definitely a lot of work, but you also get a lot of satisfaction and pride of what you put in it and what you get out of it. Plus, think about the knowledge and experience you gain. It gives you a better appreciation for what goes into it to get to the end product. Super satisfying to spark up a little with friends and have them comment on how good it is. Then blow their mind when you tell them that you grew it and didn’t just go buy it.

BTW- if you’re looking for seeds, that’s the wonderful thing about ILGM is their seed selection and their support. I have bought from other sites before and none of them have given the level of help and customer support that they do. Just hit the button at the top that says “Buy Seeds” and it takes you to their on-line catalog with great descriptions. Plus you always have support from all the people here if you need it. The moderators are great and the people friendly. Side note, you nave to sign up separately to buy seeds. Your forum login when you are here does not automatically make you registered to buy seeds. Good luck.

So you said my Harvest Window would last 10 days or so.. what does that mean? Only take the ones that are totally ready off?? .. I do notice the bottom part of the plant is budding with little buds. I was going to save those and let them grow but I doubt they are only10 days behind the big buds .. so how should I harvest them? .. thanks for all the info .. I must have a green thumb :+1: and yes it is allot of work and this plant has become my little baby.. my friend is like ‘DUDE, I REALLLY NEED TO TRY THAT’ lol .. and he has everything available.. he was the 1 that sold me the stuff that I found a seed in .. I think he feels this plant is part his lol .. have a great day everyone, and thanks so much.. really appreciate it

An auto flower is one that does not depend on a short day to flower. They grow quickly and as soon as they a mature they start to flower regardless of the number of hours of light they get. Your plant was up in May so not an autoflower…they usually finish in around 90 days from seed to harvest.

As far as drying and curing (jars)…a slow dry is important…at least 7 days. Can acheive this by trying to keep the drying environment at around 60F and 60rh. Some air circulation is important…but nothing blowing right on the plant.

The buds will be a a good quality (correct ripeness) for 10 days or so…the longer you wait the more couchlock the buzz will be. Also all the buds do not reach the same “ripeness” at the same time. The ones on top will finish quicker. so some growers harvest them all at once…some like to take the top buds first and leave the lower buds on the plant for another week or two…it is about preference.

You are going to have a lot of satisfaction growing your own plant. You should be proud you did so well on your first grow…many don’t. Please keep us updated.

My two cents

I live in Texas.. getting anything to 60f is impossible unless it’s December or January.. I spend 300+ on ac a month to keep my house at 78 .. I would LOVE 60 .. its a pipe dream. Lol. So I hope the higher temp doesn’t effect me that much :crossed_fingers:

Yikes…that is tough. There are folks on here that deal with that extreme heat…hope they chime in. The biggest issue is some terpenes evaporate at 75F…or even a little lower. Everyone needs to do the best they can with what they have. I would put in the coolest spot you have and keep the humidity up as close to 60 as you can.

Good luck!
