Just a small fridge will not work well because there is nowhere for the moisture to go. If you plan on more grows, have a few extra bucks, and are mechanically inclined…you can make a bootleg Cannatrol Cool Cure. @Grow Doc has done a great job figuring this out and is sharing freely with the community here.

Ya I thought about that and no fan in a frig. But I was thinking about a small ac unit that I can put in a small room.. im pretty sure I can get the temp down .. only prob is I’d want to sleep in that room lol .. kinda mechanical but not a problem but I might try that idea, thanks

I use a bathroom…I have hanging racks that hang in my tub. I use an AC if it is warm and a heater when it is cold. I also have a humidifier that keeps the rh at 60. A small fan keeps air circulating, but not pointed directly at buds.

So is that the curing phase, i read it was in a jar sealed. . I only have 1 plant lol I’m not gona have a fraction of that beautiful fruit :face_savoring_food:

I was gona pic the buds, hang them in a closet with a fan, 1+ week until stem snaps, then prune it up and put in a jar for 2 months at aprox 60 degrees.. is that gona work? Thanks .. dont have anyone in Texas that I could ask that lol

Ps did you say heater? What is that? I haven’t used a heater since I moved here in 79 .. even when we had snow .. can’t remember how long ago that was .. send me some of this weather P L E A S E

Hey @Squidchef , what @Riskguy is showing in the bathroom is the drying phase. You are correct that the cure phase is in the glass jars or terpene bags for 30-60 days. I’m always a 60-day guy myself. But I advise you to take a small bud out at 30 and 45 days to try and see what you think. It’s a great way to compare how much smoother it gets at a full 60 days. I’m warning you now, you have been bit by the growing bug, you’ll end up really liking it. Congratulations on your new hobby…lol We are always here to help. Just remember that when you post, it may take a minute to get a response. Everyone here has their own things to do, some are in different time zones of the USA, and others are in different countries completely. But people will respond when they can. Hopefully as you gain knowledge and experience, you can also help others as we do. Welcome again.

@squidchef Yes, you will want to cure them…I do 8-weeks. Once they are dried you put them in jars ( I use Grove bags…but jars work just fine.) I like to do it just before the stems start to snap…or when they are about 13% moisture. If the buds are on the smaller side i often will put them in paper bags at around 15% moisture for a day. (using a wood moisture meter).

Once you jar them, you are going to have to open the jars for about 20 minutes a day to let out excess moisture. Once the moisture stabilizes…about a week… you can just leave them in the jars for the rest of the cure. You do not need to keep them at 60f for this phase…I shoot for 68 to 70f

Some good info here :

PS - The heat costs less than the AC, but I do like the change of seasons…untill I have 4 feet of lake effect snow.

Yes I might have been bit.. only thing is I have to bring my plant in when Gardner or any other ppl .. and ounce I was house sitting so I brought the plant with me which sounded like a good plan until I was driving and realized big buds were looking out the back window lol and in Texas that’s not the best idea LOL .. especially at stop lights .. " oh look .. that looks like Mary-Wana .. and passing a Gardner truck , i thought I’d get followed & kidnapped .. im thinking indoors is the best .. but some ppl come over that don’t know i dabble & that might be an issue
Ya I thought drying was hanging it upside down which actually served a purpose so having no stems ready to go was a 1st for me .. but that’s a virgin talking.

Had 1 question about seeds .. how do you know its a female or is it a roll of the dice and you get both and just kill males

If you are just using bag seed or “regular” seeds it is a crap shoot 50/50 male or female. Most growers use feminized seeds so its all females. ILGM sells lots of them.

Yes, as @Riskguy stated, when you go into the seed section/catalog area of ILGM, you can sort by feminized seeds. That is honestly all I buy anymore. It’s difficult to raise a baby plant for a few months just to have to throw a bag over it, get medieval on its butt, and rip it out of the ground to throw it away. So, feminized only for me. Also, almost all Autoflowers are feminized, but always read the description and ask customer support if you are not sure. Hope that helps.
