Some follow up.
Light burn usually causes the upper leaves to canoe, (Roll up lengthways of the leaf finger). Since I can’t find a good picture of this, hoping @Docnraq still has one. The other sign of burn is the psoriasis looking patches. This can be anywhere on the upper or mid leaves not just on the edge as in the picture. But the spots are not contained within the margins. This picture has a slight spot on the edge of the leaf.
A deficiency like this calcium one. Starts with a very small spot much like light burn. But the deficiency stays contained within the margins as it progresses. Look at the spots on the finger in the bottom of this picture, (The one that is kinda hidden), and see how looks at the start.
Thank you for all your help! It is much easier to tell the difference of the deficiencies and light burn when looking at pictures of actual leaves, not just drawings like most of the quick reference material is. I’m pretty sure it isn’t a cal mag issue, I use distilled water and I condition it with 2-3 ml of cal mag once a week on water only day and just recharge or tea on the other water day.
That’s it!
Light stress will cause that barrel rolled look from the main leaf stem outward, like in Doc’s picture. Humidity can cause the serrated tips too turn upward, and it looks similar. But it doesn’t curl all the way to the stem like the light stress does.
With Doc’s and my pictures that petty well covers my knowledge base of light stress signs.
Leaves have greened up a bit and it looks like the plants are going to shed the effected leaves. I didn’t realize that there would be this fast of a reaction. I guess they were really hungry for phosphorus. What do y’all think?
Personally I don’t run organics, but that response looks like a response I had from a couple plants my last grow. I believe I hit them with blossoming nutrients too close to my flip. I know you’ll find the correct answer from someone that runs their grow nearly parallel to your own. Good luck I’m glad they’re greening again!
Glad that you are seeing some improvement!
Attached is a statement about deficiencies, and It addresses the progression of deficiencies. I have found this to be correct, and it is why it is good to know the early signs of deficiencies. So as multiple deficiencies progress things can become very confusing.
“Plants tend to show signs of a calcium or magnesium deficiency before other deficiencies. So if you use CalMag, you treat the calcium deficiency, but are more likely to see other deficiencies start to pop up. So what happens is you end up playing whack-a-mole going from one deficiency to the next, when really they just need a little more of everything.”
From Mills Nutrients.
I agree with that statement, I also realized that they are in 1 gal pots and are probably just over all hungry because I’m pretty sure they have already chewed through everything that was in the 1gal of ocean forest. In hind sight I probably should have top dressed sooner to help get nutrients available sooner and started the teas and emulsion sooner. Live and learn
@Tophat looks like magnesium toxicity which is locking out phosphorus. Why are you adding dolomite lime and cal mag together. Also, what is your light intensity, looks like the top leaves are running from it and they’re also bleaching.
