Man i’m kind of freaking out. Can anyone tell me if this is a spider mite, or a clover mite, or something else? There is nothing on my leaves, and no damage yet. I have what i think are clover mites all over my mailbox, and on my mail that I just noticed today, so I certainly brought them into my house.
It’s not a two spotted spider mite.
It looks like a stink bug to me too, but it is very tiny. It’s the third one i’ve seen, all on the floor.
Is that 2nd pic a kissing bug? ![]()

It came up in a search for stink bug…but you may be correct.
@Oldguy you should see the infestation pic!
Agreed @Growmoredank it’s a Stink bug
It definitely looks like a stink bug, but I’ve seen three of them and they are extremely tiny. I’m hoping it’s something beneficial.
They are not but easily gotten rid of
I checked this morning and didn’t see anything crawling around. I’ll keep checking. Just glad it’s not a spider mite.
Looks like a baby box elder to me. They are always red until they grow a season. Is it lady bug size or slightly smaller, and hella fast? Box elders are so fast they are hard to grab and smart enough to duck into cracks to avoid being caught.
The clover mites have eight legs and look more like baby ticks. They squish red on white paper and are slow.
Here is the adult box elder beetle. Do you ever see these around your mailbox or yard.? Box elder bugs definitely swarm in the fall like stink bugs do. I always find them holed up in my firewood pile in the winter.
Baby box elder:
I guess that’s what it could of been, i’m not really sure. I hardly ever see them, maybe a few in the summer, but that’s it. It was extremely tiny, and not that fast. I know there were a lot of clover mites all over my mailbox last weekend, and some of my mail had red stains on it, so i was certain that i brought some in my house, but they were red, and this thing was brown. I’m not seeing any damage yet, so hopefully it’s a non issue. Bugs are one thing that I am very cautious about, because I don’t wanna have to deal with combating them.
