Spider: Friend or Foe?

I’m thinking spiders eat bugs, not plants, but I also don’t want webbing on my bud sites. Is this spider considered beneficial? TIA

Spiders will eat gnats and the like. Supposed to be a good luck omen for your garden also, if you believe in that kinda thing.

Daddy long legs

@MidwestGuy think you might be right.

Yeah. She has skinny legs that made me think that might be the case.

Me too upon closer inspection. It’s smaller than the ones I’m used to seeing. They are most definitely Friends!

The first picture I posted definitely looks like Daddy Long Legs

Dont know if its true or not but I was told once that Daddy long legs have venom that is the most deadly to humans of any spider. They have tiny mouths and “teeth” so small that they cannot penetrate the skin to inject us with it. Always thought that was interesting.

That’s an old wives tale. They’re totally harmless :100:

Their jaws are designed to tear food apart but they don’t have poison glands or the glands to make webs

I’ve always been told that as well and I’ve just been waiting for them to evolve to be able to bite us and take over the world :joy:

If the bugs ever band together, humans are fooked!

I think it will be ticks and cockroaches that survive us all :cockroach:
