Just curious if anyone else has had this experience, but the sour diesel I just harvested if completely full of mature seeds. I’d say there are 5000 on the whole plant. The plant is about 6 feet tall and outdoors. Keep in mind I’m growing Super Skunk, Banana Kush, and Durban Poison at the same time. Also I have 2 other sour diesel plants from the same pack of seeds that did not produce seeds, only buds… So far I do not see cross contamination of other plants even though they are/have been in the same close vicinity.
So first of all, why did this happen and now that I have so many seeds, can I use them ?
Somebody let a male mature near you. Almost a guarantee. I would wager the seeds will be awesome mix breed regulars. Doubtfull healthy big outdoor girl hermied on you and you didnt catch it. Never can tell though. Odd only 1 seeded up.
That many seeds, I’d say a male full-on pollinated. Are your plants in the length of time in flower? Like, are they all close to, or done? That many seeds, I’d wait 3 months, and spread them alongside the highway.
We always have a few plants growing at the edges of the woods at the golf course. I expect that people are planting them. We have a variety of psilocybin (psilocybe ovoideocystidiata) that appear after a rain in the spring too.
I had some outdoor plants make seeds, found out there is a hemp farm not too far away im thinking some pollin from there found its was to me. Might have made for some nice 50/50 thc cbd plants but tossed them anyway.
I think the plant hermied. LIke I said, all other plants do not have seeds. They were all started at the same time and finished at the same time. 10 plants in all. Never had this happen before. Sometimes I might get 3 or 4 seeds out of a plant, but this sucker has alot.
Just curious if I use the hermied plant if I will get more hermie seeds in the future ? If so, I don’t think it’s a good idea to use these seeds. I don’t want to risk ruining an entire crop if these seeds will produce alot of hermies. i found out that I got more seeds on other plants due to this one hermie too.
there is some debate on this topic, and one I have noticed myself.
If the plant had two separate areas of gender: ie: female flowers with male pollen sacs separate from the flower, it appears to me to be a genetic fault. If the plant was stressed to make “nanners” pop up in the buds themselves, then the genetic component isnt really an issue, but stress is.
The plant was not stressed. It was grown in the same conditions as 9 other plants. It grew better and larger in fact than the other plants of the same variety(sour diesel). I just want to know if you can use the seeds or am I going to get more hermaphrodites ?
if it was genetic (which it is sounding like) then yes there is the chance. As some of the above have mentioned, find a nice place to set the seeds to be free and in the wild.
Ive had 3 sour diesel autoflowers with sporadic seeds found while trimming. I planted a few of those seeds and they too were feminized autos.I suspect it was either genetic and/or stress induced. Either way…FREE BEANS!
