Some leaves look slightly wrinkly and serrated edges turned up

That’s definitely of concern, I think I had an issue with that and got some slowdown in growth until the roots healed. I let it go longer I’m sure though.

I’d probably not water for a while, until either that center dries out or the plant literally shows thirst. And when you Do water, try to just water the sides and make the roots work for it.

I would not water til the entire pot could be tipped over by slapping it.

Should i make some holes in the plastic planters for air? I was thinking about buying 3gal bags and repotting them adding some perlite this time

I’ve never tried bags before but they truly sound like the way to go,
I’m definitely going to be ordering some by the time my seedlings are big enough.
For lack of those I think holes in plastic is definitely better than no holes in plastic haha

Everything is loking beautiful. I didnt know hlg cane out with a 320w light. I need 2 findnthat driver so i can add another panel in my heat sink

@xXKristenXx @SynysterChris I use plastic containers, holes in the bottom and holes around the bottom rim. And I add about 3 inches of lava rocks before adding in my ProMix. Lave rocks lets them breath, drain, and be happy!
I also have grow bags outside, same thing, 3" on the bottom.

When I transplanted my rootbound ones from 3gals to 5gal buckets I drilled lots of holes, some medium like 3/8 or half inch ones in the bottom and then smaller holes in a couple rings going around the side.
Seems to have helped, biggest girl dries out in a couple days and it only took 2 days for little roots to be poking out the holes lol
I took your advice on the lava rocks too since our yard is landscaped with them haha, all 3 of the 5gals have them now.

Buds are starting to form, growth is going quick and the biggest is wanting a Lot of food,. Been feeding her basically every watering and runoff ppm does Not raise past 1600, so long as it stays there I think I’ll keep feeding lol

Here’s the room tonight,
Guess I can’t be too mad I got 5 males outta 9 plants cuz now even with 4 there’s no walking room lol

And my smallest one appears to basically have two main stalks?? Even though I did NOT top it in any way??! :joy:

So lava rocks are a good idea even with fabric bags?
For extra airflow? Or just to keep their shape when moving them? I kinda wondered about that with fabric pots,
I think I’m gonna get some for the 6 seedlings I got started since I had some root issue a couple weeks ago,
But I’ve never used them before. Should I get stiff ones or does it not really matter?

@SynysterChris I drilled holes aroud the side of the plastic pots I didn’t do any in the bottom since the plants are in it.

There’s surely already holes in the bottom anyway. I’m sure some side holes will help get a little more air to the roots and hopefully help the center dry better

Figured they couldn’t hurt! Lave rock also retains water, so I think roots would love that environment, lots of air but moisture if they need it. I use the 1" to 2" landscaping rock. Not the fist-sized chunks but not round pebbles either.
I’m not doing it in the 10 clones I just up-planted, the new pots are still pretty small!

Makes sense if theyre good at staying moist, along with airy!
What’s in my yard is kind of a mix, there’s a lot probably only 1/4 inch but here and there there’s pieces an inch or a bit more. I tried to aim for mostly the not tiny ones, whatever 1 inch pieces I could find and then a handful of smaller.

Ooooh crap, just picked up my seedling tray and got a surprise! Didn’t think the roots would do this that quick O.o

Think I should go ahead and uppot to the Dixie cups, or should I ignore these long taproots and let them fill their little spaces with more root first?

The tray is one of those clone things with I think *maybe 2-inch? squares mostly designed for plugs or peat cubes but I didn’t have any cubes and I think the texture of the plugs is too tough and rubbery so I rednecked it with coco wrapped in paper towel lol

Decided to uppot cuz the longer I wait the harder it’ll be to not damage roots.

Think it’s okay to just leave and bury paper towels?
On a few of them at least it would be hard to get the paper towel off without breaking roots

I think it would be ok. They make those paper smart pots that are thicker

I already see roots growing thru the paper towel, you’d do more harm than good if you tried peeling it away. Happy planting!

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. I tore away big pieces of paper towel that had no roots, left the parts with roots.
If they get all nasty or something I’ll know never to use paper towels again and just use plugs lol
I have those spongy-ish plugs, they were just more rubbery than I had expected so thought they’d be tough for roots to get through but maybe they’re fine ha

I know what you mean. I have Root Riot plugs and they seem so dense, but they generally work unless I screw up. I prefer to put sprouts in soil though

Yup I think mine are made of that same stuff, kind like a partially rubber sponge.
I just got ones that were shaped a little closer to the things in my clone trays.

What do y’all think of these air pots?
I’m doing my shopping now trying to be ready for the seedlings ahead of time so I don’t do what I did a while back and leave any girls rootbound in Dixie cups lol
Think there’s any real difference between airpots and fabric?

Price lol
Airpots are better I’m sure. I don’t have them though

Aaaah. I found a 6pack of 5gals for 40$, yeah the fabric ones I’m seeing 6 of them would be half that.

Think they aerate better?
Or some truth to what the good-ol intranet says about the cones forcing roots towards the holes to prune themselves and constantly make new little roots instead of long individual roots?
I’m definitely curious…
Maybe I’ll try both with these seedlings
