Soil PH level too high

So i have been having trouble with the PH level of my soil being too high all the time causeing the awsome nutrient lockout… is there any quick rememdies that are tried and true by anyone on here? I have tried flushing it with only ph’d lowered water at about a 5 trying to get the level too come down from the 7.4 its always sitting at and it will stay down for a little bit but will jump right back ap again in like an hour or 2. Any suggestions out there or recommendations?

What soil are you using?

Also, does the soil already have nutrients like Grow Dots, did it come pre-charged with any, what have you been adding before trying the flush?

Im using happy frog soil and have been using the nuits from ilgm for the seedling and part of the veg growth now. Plus the fox farm big bloom and grow big. What is weird is that at my old place the water was slightly more acidic so I would always have to ph up the mixture before feedings but moving not even a mile away the water here is more salty which in my opinion is harder to remedy with natural things. But i did find that if you add like just a tablespoon of vinegar it will bring that ph down too.

Fox Farms has had multiple issues with low ph, not high. I would calibrate your meter to make sure it’s accurate and do a slurry test or check runoff. If it’s that high, powdered sulfur will drop the ph of your soil, just don’t go too heavy , it can change by a lot, fast!. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::oncoming_fist:

“Salty” - like sodium? That would be yucca extract to remove salt and it drops pH

The vinegar has no staying power. It neutralizes rapidly as it burns off Calcium used to buffer the soil.

Citric acid would preform better with way less.

+1 to the citric acid or General Hydroponics up/down formulas. Way better.

that happened to me before all I did was boil my water let it cool then check the ph after that I would add a air stone overnight then feed her just that waster and it fixed my problem

Without seeing the plants and the issues you’re having I do not believe the soil to be the issue. I stopped taking runoff measurements of the ph because the numbers were causing me to adjust feeds, flush, anything to get the numbers between 6-6.8. That ended up screwing up my soil and all the buffers in it. Make sure your feed is within range and let the soil buffer how it does.
