When I started smoking pot, back in the early '70s, and really for a decade or more after that, all we got was leaf. And maybe some twigs and seeds (apologies to Jesse Winchester).
So today I was trimming some leaves off my flowering plants and it occurred to me to save them and see what happens.
Does anybody smoke leaf anymore?

Not if we can help it, LOL but desperate times call for desperate actions.

I mean, is there anything in them? There was way back when, and weed has only gotten more potent since…
Small bud leaves covered in trichs yes plenty of thc, the large fan leaves - not so much. But they can be used for other things like making cannabutter and such.

We never got leaf back in the 70s it was all Mexican dirt weed full of stems and seeds. The only time we ever got leaf is was called homegrown it was someone’s plant that got pulled up before it ever flowered. It barely got you high if at all and tasted like grass. Then one day someone showed up with some weed we’d never seen before. They called it sinsemilla and told us how to grow it.

I remember those days! Only went for homegrown (leaves) when all else failed. Bought 6 finger ozs for $20, 2 cigar size joints may get you a little buzz for a few minutes. Tasted like a$$.

In my defense when I was younger and just started to try weed, me and a friend got a nut from his dad we were like 14. Made a can pipe. Didn’t even break it up put the whole big nug on the can and started smoking it. I took a few hit and passed it to him and he coughed it right off the can and we couldn’t find it. But it wasn’t brick weed it was good shit. And I was frieeeed

I got busted with a 1/4lb of that sensemilla by an undercover in 1977 the cops had never seen anything like it. While I was handcuffed to a bench at the police station they were in a room smoking it. It stunk up the hallway. When I got to trial 3ozs were missing. They ended up dropping the charges to a misdemeanor.

They charged me with maintaining a place where marijuana was being sold and dropped the possession and sales charges.
My brother moved to Humboldt the next year and my other brother moved to Santa Cruz. It was all sativa in those days. We had to use the seeds from the crappy weed. Nobody knew that it’s all about the genetics at first. My brother used to say, " If you start out with a turd, you end up with a turd". Seeds from good weed were worth their weight in gold.

You can definitely make oil or butter for edibles. Smoking the leaves will do the trick, just not as much and definitely more harsh. An easy thing to do is just make tea lol. Boil around 10oz of water with a good tablespoon of coconut oil. Put about 3-4 grams of the ground leaf in a coffee filter and tie it off. Drop it in the boiling water/coconut oil for about 8 minutes, pull the bag out and carefully squeeze it dry after it cools a little. Pop a bag of whatever tea you like to steep. And it’s best to drink it hot. The oil sort of clumps when it cools, but when hot, the oil is thin and light and there isn’t really a taste so it doesn’t feel like you’re eating chapstick. Useless to sift it off the top as well, because being fat soluble, the THC will stick mostly to the oil. You can mask some of the taste with sweetener.
That should be in the remember when post.?
