Should I be concerned about small areas of bud rot?

It certainly hasn’t been favourable weather for us, wettest most humid march on record… 50% is great, especially compared to my 80-90% outdoors, unfortunately theres nothing I can do about it. Ill back up @Nug-bug here, neem will make your buds taste like poo when sprayed this close to harvest dont risk it. Just keep a close eye on your girls every day, if you see any mold then cut it out. If you cut out a bit of mold, then the next day it is still spreading above or below where you cut it out, then cut the whole kola off as you will end up losing way too much if you keep cutting little bits of mold off. Sometimes you just gotta be ruthless to get the end result. My drying room was sitting between 80-90 RH, same as outside, I’ve got it down to 70 with a dehumidifier but its such a large room that its hard to get it below 70. Looks like were sure for some more rain at the end of the week (thats if you live in NSW)

as the buds get larger and packed tighter, mold gets to be a bigger problem.

bugs and mold are why I moved indoors…and I traded those problems for costly equipment, an electric bill, nutrient imbalances and pH tracking.

@BondPacker, in WA but conditions are all over the place as well. Me having to move my girls for a few weeks certainly didn’t help. I also work away which can make care hard at times. This grow has been a real eye opener and learning curve for me. All in all I’m stoked and I will take these learnings and hopefully improve my grow next season. I really feel for you mate, you have some beautiful plants with big, fat colas. I have loved growing Girl Scout Cookies, such an awesome strain, I think I will definintley grow again in future.

@kabongster, so true. I really hadn’t ‘cracked open’ any of my large colas as yet. When I did to assess extent of mold issue I really couldn’t believe how dense and compact the flowers are. I can see how in the right conditions mold would flourish. I have always loved growing under the natural elements but have now been reminded of how difficult it can be. I often look at indoor posts and appreciate the intricacies. Let’s see, I may give it a go one day, lol. :+1::sunglasses:

I know a lot of people will disagree with me , but I know I’ve done huge outdoor deals where we had several thousand things to deal with and we sprayed neem oil two weeks prior to harvest never washed anything , nor had to and never had any issues with the taste or anything in that effect … because we were drying and curing for at least six weeks after the Harvest , sometimes 8 weeks to cure and never had any issues with outdoor plants tasting like crap , October and November are very humid in the Emerald Triangle… I know that @Paranorman said he had issues with flavor and had to have it all turned into hash , but that might have just been because the plant needed to be hashed anyway , not because of the neem oil… if you don’t believe me , then just spray one Cola and see what happens… cure as the rest and see if there’s a difference…

I doubt it… :wink:

2 Oz of neem oil and a drop or 2 of dawn dish soap and all’s good to a gallon of water… that’s for extreme outdoor growing… indoors and it’s 1 1/2 Oz neem oil to a gallon and a few drops dawn dish soap…

This is what I use on indoor…

If I was outside with a couple or more…:smiling_imp::smiling_imp::smiling_imp: I would switch that recipe to canola oil … same measurements , just cheaper oil… :wink:
Still kills… :imp::grin::smiling_imp:
Please , I’m begging you… save your harvest… :fearful:

Hi @peachfuzz, thanks for your input. It sounds like you’ve had good experience using. I will keep in mind.

Good Day Everyone.
I hope this finds you all well.
I am looking into growing and I am unable to get decent quality seeds. The seeds I do have are not so good quality as they were mixed pollinated and actually got the seeds in the buds. There were not very many seeds in the buds though. Will this affect my end result after I have gotten to final stage of harvest. I have tried to ask to get seeds imported to where I am but they can’t send to me. I am also a new grower or am venturing into it. The quality of what we get here is not good and actually just puts me into a bad mood smoking as it’s just a waste of time.
Also when one wants to extract the oil for medical purposes is there a specified way of getting it checked as I don’t want to do the oil and give it to someone and then they get sick or have extra problems.
Please any assistance or advice will be greatly appreciated.

I think I am having the same issue I’m really not sure I’m new to all of this I have a white widow fem and gelato fem and it’s like roting off or something I’m really not sure I’m growing indoor and the temp be 80 while humidity is about 41% I feed them with fox farm fertilizer 3tsp a gallon & I have big rootz planting soil ph about 6.5-7.0 that’s all the information i have. The plants are about 7months

@kabongster @SilvaBack203 @Dr.DankThumb420 @maxlarge @kdawg @zparkie2

If it seems like its rotting off as in soft squishy and icky then its bud rot. Sadly nothing can be done at that point. If any part of the plant appears ok you may be able to save that part by eliminating the rotten parts. Don’t try to ingest any of the rotten part.

So I should cut off any of the rot parts?

Absolutely

Cut it and toss it. Hopefully you able 2 save alot

That doesn’t look like bud rot to me. That looks like it ph/nutrient related.

7.0 is too high of swing for soil. I wouldn’t go past 6.8 in soil. And your humidity should be lower. That could be a contributing factor for bud rot. Plants should have good air flow as well, should be able to see the plant lightly blowing in the wind. Make sure to read up around here on optimal flower condition. We have the search bar at the top for specific searches.

Okay great thank you!!
