Hello all, I originally posted this in the wrong place so I am going to try again here. I sadly made a purchase of $20 for one seed from seedsmen. The seed is a dud I’ve been trying for over a week for it to sprout between damp paper towels and starting out soaking it in the dark in water for a day and a half prior to the paper towels. My problem is I cannot get any support whatsoever from that company and there is no way to reach them. Has anybody else had the same issue or does anybody else know how to reach them. I will not be doing business with them anymore and will switch my business here.
Sorry you had that experience. I don’t want to bash Seedsman, but they tend to be less responsive. Your best bet would be to contact the breeder of the seed, and politely explain the situation.
I would not recommend soaking your seeds for 36 hours. Soak them while you sleep, just overnight. If you put them into paper towel, make sure that towel is really wrung out and then into a ziplock.
ILGM is really quite good about customer service, but every business is struggling right now due to COVID. I’d keep that in mind.
Thank you so much for your quick response and your recommendations. This is my first time growing a seed and unfortunately I don’t think it’s going so well. I Believe the grower is out of the country but I can see if I can track down an email for them. I will definitely be ordering from ILGM and try again.
I’ve sprouted 9 seeds from ILGM. 4 of them were 18 months old. 100% success.
And you have direct access to them on this forum, but I don’t think you’ll need to contact them.
I’ve contemplated going with attitude seed bank, but ultimately I’m going to go back to ILGM. They have a lot of classic strains I love (Chocolope, purple haze, Durban Poison)
I feel a bit of loyalty to them for two reasons, this forum and the quality of their seeds.
I always figure a percentage of loss on every seed order , ilgm currently is at about 10 percent loss or 1 out of 10. I have used other breeders mostly because of sale prices or strains not carried by ilgm some of them run at about 30 percent loss. Ilgm does guarantee every sale but no one is going to go thru much trouble over a single seed loss in a bunch. That means you either wind up with a 10 percent off your next purchase or a 10 free seeds with next purchase. Although loss is inevitable this will give you an idea of what to expect from future seed purchases.
I’ve only been part of this group for one day and I can’t believe the information available for anything you could possibly want to know. I don’t see any reason to go anywhere else to purchase seeds since they give you a guarantee with your purchase. It sounds like a wonderful company and I am very much looking forward to the journey.
One criticism people will make of ILGM is that their seeds are “too expensive,” but that really irks me; ILGM seeds are ~$15-20/per if you only buy 5-packs, but they are $5-7 if you take advantage of 10+10 deals. But what people always neglect to mention is all the transactional non-sense other seed banks like to add on. Shipping fee? Don’t forget our handling charge! Did you want insurance on your $200 order? Oh no, it looks like the exchange rate is unfavorable for you at the moment… And before you know it your $200 costs $300.
For most people, this is absolutely true. ILGM doesn’t have regular seeds at the moment, but I think the vast majority of their customers want the certainty of feminized seed. They have offered at least 5 strains in regular seed in the last year, so this could just be a temporary thing. If you’re going by the desired effect, you should always be able to find something.
Awesome! That’s good to know and given that, I’m really surprised that seeds man does not offer any type of guarantee. Very sad and at this time I do not have the money to order another seed unless you guys would sell just one seed but I did not see that on your website. Is that possible? With thanks, Kathy
Unfortunately I have not been able to place an order yet. If you guys could sell me one seed I may be could order that for now. Do you know if I could purchase one seed?
This forum is just customers/cultivators providing mutual aid. None of us work for ILGM unless you see ILGM in front of the username.
I would save up until you have enough for a 5 or 10 pack. Hopefully you’re able to get a hold of the seed breeder who’s work you had trouble with, and they replace the seed which enables you to grow your own and save enough money for an ILGM pack.
I don’t think ILGM would even consider sending out 1 seed; It wouldn’t work with their business model.
