Seeding to veg stage

Hi Everyone & to our predecessors of this forum. I just started my first indoor grow, i have takin my seeds out of the wet papertowel and planted in A red plastic beer cup with MYCORRHIZAE HP PRO MIX. I then put the 2 x cups under a dome and back in the closet in the dark 2 days ago. i spritzed the soil nicely & the dome cover also. the LED FEIT 32w grow light is hooked up and waiting to be switched on. i have it 6" above the dome. When is the best time too throw the switch on and is 6" close enough ? Also any feedback on me starting the seed in Mycor is welcome. I have 1" pots and FoxFarm Ocean Forest soil standing by too transplant when they are ready. When its time should I mix the bag od FFOF with some Mycor or just FFOF and stand by with nuts ? thank you fellow growers of knowledge, Peace

Pictures are helpful. I’m not clearly understanding what the seedlings are in currently. And whether or not they’re in the dark.
Welcome to ILGM.

If the light is off and that is my understanding, turn it on. After planting you want to encourage that growth. Some like to run the light 24/0 at this stage. Myself I run mine 18/6. It is personal preference and what gets you the best results.

Welcome to the forum. We all want to see you succeed!

If I’m understanding correctly, you can start your light cycles now.

okay cool. I better go get a timer switch tomorrow to do that 18/6. Is 6" above the dome good enough when they are on ?

giphy (1) I dont think I have ever really used the dark to germinate, I would definitely get them started on some light. I dont know about the height with the 32w led, but someone will answer that shortly. I can almost guarantee it.

Awesome thank you… I’m looking very forward too learning from all of you cats. Oh the FEIT LED has white, blue and red lighting. I can switch color any time. I thought what the heck it’s a good brand and it’s only $130.

I usually soak in a hydrogen peroxide water mixture for a day or two and I get my tap root, then i transplant to my medium in my red solo cup but pretty much the whole time I leave them under a CFL for warmth and light until they get a tiny bit bigger then I move them under my led. I am still very new, I’m on my second grow now, first was in soil and I was happy with it but messed it up the whole time. (Before I joined the forum.) This one is in coco coir, and it’s going good.

Wow, that’s fantastic. Good luck with your grow. I’m very impressed. I’m nowhere near that kind of grow, lol. I need to keep it simple. Soil for now and maybe one day HYDRO, Buhahaha ! If I live that long. Haha

Welcome to ILGM FORUM. Your going to like it here. Couple things I wanted to ask about, you said that you didn’t know how to transfer pics from phone. So you are using laptop or desktop to a access site. You know the old adage that a picture is worth a thousand words, that’s especially true here. If you have a problem, you may be able to describe but it’s a lot easier for people to help if they can see pic. Can you access site with phone. If so, you definitely need to if you’re having a issue with plants. One more thing, the other old adage there is no dumb question. Don’t worry about asking something that seems like a dumb question. Many times you’ll ask a question and not only get answer but also get insight into something you didn’t know about. One last thing, if you have a problem don’t panic and do something you’re not sure about. While the hard way is a great way to learn a lesson, it can be difficult to lose a plant especially when it seemed to be doing well. Good luck and have fun. Growing these plants can be addictive.

On the topic of germinating seeds…

I usually take a bottle of water, 16.9ounces, pour out an ounce or so, then fill the water bottle cap up with 3% H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide), then pour it into the bottle, shake it up, (shaken Not stirred, lol.) then I dampen a paper towel, place the seed/seeds in the dampened paper towel, place it in a dark, cool place for 24 plus hours, keep it damp with the same solution, in a spray bottle if the paper towels becomes dry. 24-40 hrs, all of mine germinated.

All of my ILGM seeds germinated so far. Great quality!! Shipping is on point! Wonderful prices!

hey everyone, its almost 2020, wow !!!
Question, does or has anyone using or used the California light works LED SolarXtreme500
Im looking for a good solid light for my 4x4x6.8 grow tent to help from seedling, veg to final harvesting stage. there are so many. its like trying too pick out toothpaste, shampoo, frustrating, lol. i dont mind paying good money for a good long lasting light, does not necessarily have too be an LED. but im hearing a lot about this California light works company and their SolrXtremes 250, 500 and 1000 leds…oh im waiting for my son too show me how too download pictures. lol

First thing I noticed is the active fans for thermal management, which drives efficiency down, which also tells you the LED’s themselves aren’t as efficient because those are producing heat too.

I think there’s better value in Horticulture Lighting Group 550. The biggest reason I see is it’s simply more efficient. Efficiency while growing weed doesn’t always go hand in hand, but it does on this single point alone.
Efficiency+more lumens= less heat.
We all know in our grow rooms heat is the enemy, it’s always having to be vented out.
We all have our opinions on lighting, but you can’t ignore facts. @BoivinBudz
I hope I helped.
Happy growing. :seedling:

Just wanted to give you some other options. I bought 2 lights from Budget Led. I had excellent results with these lights. Something like this would light 4x4 up and then some.

I have 2 lights similar to these. They were on sale for less so I could buy 2 for less than the one bigger
You could go with 3500k for Veg and flower.
