Seeding problems! Poor Loretta!

Just a light misting of highly diluted Thrive Alive B-1 Green, and a little bit of Root 66 and Sugar Daddy, all diluted to 1/4 recommended strength.

Seedlings don’t need nutrients at all until the cotyledon (little round) leaves fall off. Depending on what soil your are using you may not need to feed for up to 4 to 6 weeks.

Here is the info on Brut’s potting soil. I wanted to use something complete so I wouldn’t make a mess out of mixing.

The problem with a lot of ā€œcompleteā€ soils is that they have time-release nutes in them which nukes your plant with nutes and submarines your pH every time you water. I don’t see that listed in the Brut literature, but what you have is nute burn from too many nutrients.

Ok! Straight water from now on. I went with the Brut b/c it looked to me like it was based off worm castings and chicken manure.

The best way to manage nutrients is to get yourself a PPM (EC) meter and check your runoff PPM, then start feeding with a decent cannabis fertilizer when PPM dips below 1,000.

Thanks, I will order one shortly. Because she is so small, I haven’t been watering to run off, I water into the saucer under my pot and allow it to absorb, and then I use a spray bottle to water around her on the surface.

Stop doing That. Put the spray bottle down. Back away slowly.

Cannabis, even babies, prefer wet/dry cycles. No need to spray unless you’re treating for pests or applying a foliar feed. :v:

Ok! I’ll give her a break. I may be over-fussing atm.

Yes. But we all do it. The first part of my journal (and by that I mean 400+ Posts) I’m just a nervous wreck. Every. Day.

Thankfully the fine folks here (largely @Underthestairs ) helped me through those first few weeks of nail-biting and over stressing.

We’re all here for you, too. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Good idea. Seedlings only need a few ml of water a day. You won’t water to runoff for weeks still.

Sorry I hope no one misunderstood me, I was saying cooler temps was ideal for new growers , but for growers that are dialed in ( environment, VDP , nutrients) slightly higher temps is a game changer. Sorry if someone took it the wrong way . My worst grow

Not at all. I got ya. It’s harder for a newbie to manage those parameters. But I also don’t stress out when I see someone new with high temperatures- that’s all I meant :joy: I just talk too Much.

Great grow btw. If that’s your ā€œworstā€ I’ll do myself the favor of not sharing my worst.

Well thank you everyone! Loretta is already cooler (76) and hopefully happy. I appreciate all the help. I’ll check back in on her later - gotta take the grandkid trick or treating - so Loretta will do without my attention for a while!

Good advice up there :point_up_2:

Here are pictures of Loretta today. I’m still worried about her, though her leaves appear to be growing. Her temperature and humidity are straightened out, through adding better ventilation. Opinions?

I’d pull the plug on her and start more seeds, you’re spinning your wheels and not getting anywhere with that plant. My plants would be bigger than that in 2 days above ground.

That’s kind of what I’ve been thinking, all this effort and worry for a plant that’s likely going to not really go anywhere.

Hopefully I’m getting most of my mistakes out of the way this time around. I mean the really awful ones that lead to this disaster. :frowning:

@Hellraiser I’ve been reading your journal and you pushed me to go ahead and start again.

I have a new pot, I had bought a Pot for Pot kit, and I think I’ll use that. I’m pretty damn sure that I watered my poor Loretta to her current situation, but with nearly a month above ground I should have more to show for my efforts.

My current pot had Brut Potting Soil in it and I think it’s just too much.

Thank you - I’m going to continue to review what you’ve done and hopefully I’ll have a better time this go-around.

Yeah I think that would be best. The pot for pot kit should give you a nice start, won’t need any nutes for a while and watch the over-watering. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.
