Seed Selection Journal

@bonnie1 I can’t imagine. All because of a picture. I can walk past a cop and blow it in his face legally in my state so a picture being a problem seems ridiculous. I get if a person chooses not to identify themselves if they are in an illegal state but their internet history would doom them anyway. Idk what’s wrong with people. SMH.

Well, it looks like we have the start of the 5 males. They will go into cups tonight.
@RandomlyRan for my 13w led light. I have it about 7" over my plants. I would think you would be good with starting at a foot and lower it if you need.

ROFL no need. I can’t tell any one that this will be completely right every time. I just know I have had perfect luck with getting females using this so far. I have no problems saying I was wrong if i get a female. It will just mean I need to find room for it in my tent.

Outta likes @Not2SureYet I’m excited to see the results. Mine had a tap root started thru bottom of plug. I went ahead and put them in soil. I put the hydroton from small cups in the bottom of large cups. Place my plug on hydroton and filled with soil. I now use the small cup as a dome. My light is approx 8" away.

Have you ever thought maybe the shape of the seeds that they have determined to be male or actually a shape that is unfavorable to germination possibly causing stress leading it to be a male perhaps I’m firmly believing it’s stress-related at a young age since a plant can go female to hermaphrodite in the middle of its life cycle

Honestly. I can’t say what may be the cause. I only know I have tried this on multiple strains and had it work. Could I just be lucky. Absolutely. I am far from an expert on growing. I do try to learn what I can as I go along.

I have had that happen with an auto in my last grow. Only it started spilling pollen on the branches below. I bagged and removed those branches and grew the plant out. I was shocked that nothing got pollinated to the point it made more male branches. I had 3 flowering plants in the tent when it happened. I believe it was stress from higher than normal temps in the tent and running my lights turned all the way up.

As for these 5 now. They are in dixie cups now and in the tent. This should be interesting. This tent is normally used to to start seedlings off. I have it set up to grow in as these are the last 2 plants for the year. I didn’t plan on starting more.
Once the 2 plants in the other room are done. I am going to do a little work on that room.
This is the first time I have tried to start seeds of directly in coco. I normally use rooter plugs. I didn’t want to use 5 for plants that were going to get tossed in a few weeks. Once these are a couple weeks old. i will move them to one of the flower tents to run on the 11/13 with the others. And hopefully. They will just change when they are ready. I am far better with autos than photos.
I figure in 3 days we should have the first picture of the boys up if all goes good.
These are under a qb at 40w & 30" off the seedlings

@Not2SureYet… lookin good though… when I was a lot younger, back in the 70s :joy: I tried growing random bag seeds and that’s exactly what happened, the pollen got all over the place and they grew but then died, plus I didn’t know what I was doing. I can’t figure out how to change my username and picture, can you help me?

They are looking good. my GS have grown a little as well. No great pictures right now though. I wasn’t thinking when I fed today and these got fed with these other 2 in the tent. So 500 ppm for them today. The good is the GS here are a super strong strain. I am thinking I should just bite the bullet and move them to one gallon pots. They grow a lot faster for me than in solo cups.
