I saw a video on YouTube that showed you how to tell the sex of seeds based just on the intricate shape and micro pattern of the top of the seed.
Is this for real? Sounds too good to be true. Is it fact or fiction?

I remember seeing a video on YouTube saying you can tell by the creator on the bottom of the seed. If it indents its female. If it’s more flat or protrudes. It’s male. Never actually tried it. But the guy in the video swears to it. Haha.
I’ve read if the crater is perfectly round it’s female. Someone posted about it here a while back. Can’t remember who.
Is it true or not true? Anyone know for sure?

What was taught is that if the end where the seed is attached looks like a volcano its a female, if its not concaved its a male. How accurate is this? Back in 2017 I had a bag of seeds. Pulled 17 and germinated them. Out of the 17, 14 were females and 3 were male.

Hell, every time I go to Walnutz I see a full grown human I can’t tell the sex of so I’m gonna say No on a seed.

I’m a firm believer of don’t judge me and I won’t judge you.
Back in the late 80s and early 90s High Times magazine used to swear up and down you could influence the sex of a seed through germinating techniques, with a better treated seed having a higher likelihood of being female. Warmer temps and more moisture at the early stages often being cited as opposed to cooler drier climate. Kinda like a clammy wetness I always imagined…and let me say - eww! I know which I’d prefer!
That was long before feminized seeds was a thing. Shit - there might have been all of 5 seed banks that would ship to the US and that was if you sent an envelope full of cash, no checks or CC! Talk about sketch!
In fact they had just started playing with ruderalis and had just introduced “early” flowering strains.
The good old bag seed days! You could afford to plant 20 to get 10 females! LOL!
- I might kick it old school this summer! I got a bunch of seeds from bags I’ve collected over the years. I might start a few of them and take the best for an outdoor grow!

A couple of the last bags I bought from my old broker - haven’t bought since September 2021, THX ILGM!! - had a few beans in each. One he said was Pineapple Upside Down Cake, the other was Vesace Kush.
The PUDC was really good honestly and the VK wasn’t bad. Maybe I’ll start a couple of the PUDC.
I also have a single seed in a paper envelope labeled Oscars 2018.
I had a different guy at that time and his shit was always top shelf so I might try that one too.
In fact a few times he got weed for me he told me his supplier would buy back any beans I found for $5 a pop. It might have been one of those.

Yes, the crater theory is true. But its not 100% ive seen it done by crater and seed lines. Nothing is 100 percent.

Wonder what the success rate was compared to 50/50? If it was like 90%… 90% success in picking females would be pretty good proof.
