Seed selection for beginner with greenhouse

Hello

I’m a beginner, so I’ve been doing research, read the bible, but I have some questions and would appreciate advice. I’d like to grow some plants in my greenhouse for personal use. I have MS, and have used weed for many years to successfully treat various symptoms - even more successfully lately with very high CBD strains available. I have been hesitant to grow because whenever I start to research, I get overwhelmed at how complicated it seems. Due to MS, I have cognitive and memory issues, as well as physical limitations. I need this to be as easy as possible  That said, I’m an avid gardener with lots of time on my hands… I can do this!

My setup: I live in Los Angeles, CA, and I’d like to plant ASAP. I have a 4’x6’ south-facing polycarbonate greenhouse, empty and ready to go. I could potentially hang a light as I have easy access to power. I was planning to plant in soil in 5 gallon buckets.

QUESTIONS:
Strain: I want something with a high CBD content as well as high THC. Easy to grow. I want to start now - do I need an auto flowering variety? I was very interested in Gold Leaf.
Starting: Can I start my seeds directly in the 5 gallon buckets, or do I need to start small and transplant?

of plants: My greenhouse is small - 4’x6’ - how many plants should I grow?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hey BelleVie, and Welcome to ILGM, I’m a beginner myself after many years off but found this site as well, your in Good hands now trust me. I had many questions myself, and they All got answered ! I’m a soil grower also so I can talk with you a bit on that topic , I also grow outdoors and the sun helps me a bit also, so I’m not great with the light questions.
But… seeds I would Strongly suggest the Gold Leaf and Crystal for high CBD and THC, I don’t think you want Autos yet unless you just want a quick small harvest , although Amnesia Haze has both of what you"re looking for in CBD and THC.
I started my plants in “starter soil” seedling mix, under CFL lights(cheap) then transplanted from 6 inch pots to their final resting area 2-3 weeks later, there are other ways to start such as peat plugs etc… Lets let some others chime in on their thoughts of Best helping you on your way to your Best grow. You seem to have some knowledge of gardening and that will help, but your choice of seeds should be your first concern, then you"ll need to concentrate on your set-up , obtaining Good soil for growing Cannabis etc… hope this helps a little. Its really not all that complicated, its a weed and your growing outside, You"ll need Ph kit good soil (Fox Farms) is good start to finish. Some extra nutrients like Earth Juice Rainbow mix Bloom, or Fox Farms Trio pack, and lets see what others say.

Don’t mind at all!

How tall is your greenhouse, this will affect plant numbers as well , a 4x6 should be able to house 3-5 plants if you top (prune) them , and train them (bending ) etc.

Thanks for the responses. If the time of year won’t matter and I don’t need an autoflowering variety, I’ll choose Gold Leaf. I’ve got time.

My greenhouse is 4’6" on the sides, 6’8" in the center. If I hang a light, it’ll be in the center, which I assume would encourage them to grow that direction. I was thinking 4 plants would be my maximum, and even then it might be tight… but maybe I’m being hopeful  If they’re in 5 gallon buckets it’ll be easy enough to make adjustments.

Thanks also for the list of things - some were already on my list to find. Now I don’t have to

…Going to go order my seeds! Thanks again!

Hello, I’m really not new with growing. A couple of years ago I grew a plant that was about 9 feet tall. You are probably saying: No, they don’t grow that big. Beleave me, it was. I have a picture of it. My mother stands about 5’9" and she had her arm stretched out and it still had about 2-3 feet above that. It was huge. It must have liked were it was planted. I just wanted to know what type of seeds should I get for easy growing. I am in Southern New England and I plant outside. Last year I tried to grow four plants and only one did ok. Please help. That one that I grew that was about 9 feet tall was a garbage seed. I had enough weed for me to smoke for two years straight and I sold some and my mother smoked some for two years by herself. Please help. I have started one in January. It is of the gold variety I beleave. It is about 12 inches. I don’t know why it hasn’t grown taller. I’m using seedling potting mix until I can get it outside. What seed should I get for easy growth and big yield? Thank you.

With out a doubt , get White Widow, I’m from the NE also, this is an easy plant to grow, has big yields and at 18%, it does justice. Top it bend it , this will grow into a Tree.

I grew some giants a few years back. Around 12’ tall. Some of the sativa strains get massive!
