I have never grown before! We are building a 10x14 room that will be connected to my building on a side that has a window so I can control temperature. No windows, one door and the connection to my building.
I want to buy the Auto flowering but have no idea where to start after I purchase the seeds.
If someone could kindly through me a list together I would greatly appreciate it!
Thank You!!
lights, seeds, medium. the other 8,000 things you will buy are along the way. knowledge is your friend. stalk a few growers journal pages. read read read
Also lots of good reading here:
You can also create a journal to document the journey and ask questions along the way. Good luck, and welcome to the forum!
A 10 x 14 space is going to be EXPENSIVE to light properly. Maybe consider throwing a cheap 4x4 tent in there to startâŚthen when you see that you love this hobby you can worry about getting a whole room lit, ventilated, conditioned, light proof, etc.
thatâs a good point. im only wanting 3-4 at a time.
4x4 is okay for 3-4 could get a little tight depending on how you train and how long you veg them. 5x5 would prob be perfect but again whenever you size up itâs hundreds more for the adequate lighting. I have 7 in my 4x4 right now and itâs absurd. Iâm cutting back to that 3-4 range next round.
@Ch_2020 welcome ,give this a read
you could also light part of the room for the grow and use the other part as a lab/grow room/ potting/watering area, storage(youâll be buying a lot of stuff). Is this building plumbed for water/drainage? How many circuits run to this room and how many amps do you have to use??
Fate and fortune have blessed you. The end result you seek is already possible and waiting for you. Use the main page to guide you to beginners and grow journals. Use your replies sparingly now, thereâs a short probation period before you can post many times. Welcome with regards.
Yeah I havenât made it to the train or veg. Iâve got to do all the research to find the right soil, water, lets just say everything⌠but I downloaded the PDF. Thank you for all the information it helps a whole lot.
lights⌠no purple colored lights.
Whatâs your budget? How many ounces of dried flowers do you need to grow per year?
You mentioned you only need 3-4 plants, but letâs answer the two questions first.
Thatâs my problem⌠I donât know much at all about the growth part. I have done extensive research on flower it self, now I am to the grow and Iâm lost. Personal use, Autoflowering, year round. I have too do the yeild calculations on the White widow. Maybe a grow tent will be perfect⌠but now which one Iâm researching too see what I find that is not 2nd mortgage expensive big enough for 4 plants.
Thank You!
Do you buy flowers currently? If so, how much do you spend every month on them?
Unless funds arenât an issue, youâre wise to set a budget and select equipment based on that. Your idea of 4 plants at a time seems arbitrary. Itâs probably better to estimate that you can harvest 1 ounce (dried) per square foot of garden every 3-4 months. A 4âx4â tent can reliably produce 4 lbs per year, which is way more than Iâd need for personal use.
You can set up a 4âx4â tent for under $500 (not including seeds). Itâs better to budget more than $1,250 so you have enough to buy efficient equipment that will save you money long-term.
Thank you!! That sounds perfect! What size tent for 4 plants? And can I buy the fertilizer from a co-op or nursery or do I need special fertilizer?
Iâve search but there are so many different answers. Iâd like to know from someone that actually does it.
Thanks
I use Fox Farm soil and Fox Farm trio fertilizer from a local garden center.
I feel like youâre misunderstanding my question. How much dried flower do you need?
I agree with reading some of the fellow growers journals about their grow seasons to get some form of basis on what you might need. Stick to the basics like type of medium, pH balanced water, and lighting. The rest will come in time. Happy growing and learning!
Oh! Sorry, I have no idea⌠Iâm in a state where it is not legal yet & honestly will never be. So its not consistent or itâs what is in this pics and have no idea what strain. Iâve never had pure! I am using this as medicinal , so probably with pure stuff. 1-2 roll a day max. Could be a lot less. Regular roll with tips.
Ouch. The good news is even a subpar first run will be better than what youâre buying now.
My advice is to start with a 2âx4âx8â(tall) tent. That should be less than $150(you can spend more if you want). Pair that with an HLG 260 XL V2 R-Spec ($380) and youâre nearly there. Youâll absolutely want a carbon filter and a 6â in-line fan. Note that the filter is a consumable, and they only last for a grow or two.
I wouldnât start with autoflowering plants. Iâd pick a nice beginner-friendly cultivar OR base your selection on your medical needs. Autoflowering plants rob you of most of the ability to train and/or match their size with your space. Youâll only want 2 plants at once in that 2x4 tent, but youâll have 8 ounces your first harvest, if things go reasonably well.
Grow medium is a matter of personal preference. I personally feel like water-only bagged soil is great, if you can find one locally. I also feel like soilless ProMix with nutrients by General Hydroponics is extremely straight forward. Whatever route you go, take notes and keep a journal here. Read other beginner journals too.
