Second grow, upgraded everything!

Quit growing for about 10 years. This is my second run going. I have super skunk going and some misc seeds in the hydro system to make sure I still remember how to use hydroponics. First pic is the new tent setup, second iis my first run, wifey wanted her closet back. Ready to get another tent for flower only. Lots of other misc plants in there too catnip, sunflower, etc. Love growing!!! Any helpful words encouraged.

Yeah I started out in the closet as well, the deal with the wife was she gets her closet back and I get 2 tents, now we’re both happy. Happy wife, happy life.

Yeah ordering another tent next week. Which brand do you prefer without breaking the bank?

I’m running a couple of Apollo’s, no complaints.

I am using vivosun now and it seems great for me.

Yeah vivosuns are good, know a couple friends with them, good tents. Happy growing!

I have two 1500 watt LED in there. One bestva 1500 and another 1500 watt cob LED. Do you think it is too much?

No, not too much, if anything may be a little on the low side when you got a tent full of flowering girls.

More likely not enough. That Bestva is only 280 watts with a small footprint. Your harvest numbers will tell you though. The current state of the art is the Quantum Board from Horticulture Lighting Group. Give em a look.

I just dont have the cash for that. Would a mars hydro be a good one to snag?

I have no experience with the Mars Hydro: there are a few folks out here trying em for the first time. I’m not encouraged as their marketing is just as deceptive as when they were selling blurples.

Here’s the thing: you are gonna pay one way or the other. Assuming decent bud density. If you don’t have adequate light you will have loose, airy flower and no mass to it. Lights really do make a big difference. So: your Bestva light puts out something like 95 lumens/watt and 70% in a usable spectrum for the plant. That HLG light uses latest generation Samsung diodes with something like 205 l/w. This translates to half the power for the same levels and actually better as the usable spectrum of theirs is more like 90% (90 CRI) so a net gain. They run cool, are silent and you need between 25 and 30 watts per square foot instead of 50 w/sq. ft. This translates into a (potentially MUCH) lower electrical bill. So; pay now or later.

Don’t worry about what you grow with but the HLG 550 would be nice for the flower tent.

I also have 400,600,1000 watt hps/mh lights. The electric bill was just a little rough. Should I just go with the 1000 watt hps for flower?

I’m running mars 2000 and 3000… I like them quite a bit… but I’m gonna be totally straight I’m super tempted to drop on the hlg 550 before my next big grow… I’ll just use the Mars for veg… I don’t have any real growing experience until my first grow and I’m getting close to my first harvest but the Mars have been pretty good. I looked at a bunch of lights on amazon and after going to forums and reading blogs I thought for the price I won’t be super pissed if this ends badly lol… I’m not a rich person but I put some $$ aside for collecting stuff I love so needless to say all the guitar gear and Plastic robots are put on a long hold … BUT I am becoming a better gardener and I have plenty of herb when I’m done with this round to take me through a nice long bit and I don’t need to deal with sketchy people. Sorry rambling… Mars aren’t bad in my opinion

LOL, you can’t go wrong there, you know it’s going to deliver the buds. Much better than the leds you have.
