So new to mini split systems it has heat. Cool . Dry . Auto … I have it set to cool and 75. My question is overnight temp drops to 50s . Do I set my controller to auto and it will switch between the two to keep it at 75? Sounds like a stupid question but just wanted to verify bc I grow in dwc 5 gallon bubble buckets
You should check your manual to make sure it’s ok to run the compressor with outside temps that low. Obviously it’s fine to use it in heat mode, but on AC or Dry modes, usually unless the unit is specifically made to operate in cold environments, manufacturers recommend not using it if the outside temperature is below 62°F. The lubricating oils inside the compressor won’t work properly below that temp, and it can damage the unit over time.
As far as your original question, not sure how yours will work, but on mine once it reaches the temp I have it set for, the compressor kicks off but the fan keeps running, but mine isn’t a Samsung.
Yes it will switch to maintain set point.
I agree with @Cap_Ron on checking user manual for minimum operating temperatures, running outside their parameters will in best case freeze the inside coil and make a mess when defrosting or worse case destroy the compressor.
It’s made for heating and cooling with built in heat pump and defrosting. It can handle operating in cold environments
I guess I should have bought a Samsung, lol.
