I have 3 clones from last years grow they are inside my garage until June. I noticed some wierd growth and leaf damage on the Black Widow clone so I pulled her out and did some investigating with a microscope.
I isolated the Black Widow plant and put her out in my storage shed under a blurple light for now. I defoliated her then sprayed/soaked her with Captain jacks dead bug then purecrop1 using my fogger. I removed the other two plants out of the closet took them outside, defoliated them heaviely then sprayed/soaked them the same as the BW. I fogged the closet as well after I cleaned it up as best I could. These plants if they survive will go outside in June.
I’ve delt with spider mites before but never Russet mites. Ive had a few friends that have had them and only one of them didnt chop everything and start over. Im gonna try to eradicate them and save these 3 plants. This is what I’m gonna use in no particular order.
Purecrop1, Captain jacks dead bug,
Captain jacks tomato and vegetable, also have some of this coming from Amazon

I wonder if they like same environment habits etc as spider mites. Hate wet soil, dont live long without a plant. I lost 2/12 small plants not bad just seperating and trying to ruin their homes

Ive ordered predatory insects from arbico before I’ll use the sprays first to knock them down a bit then I might use some predatory bugs to kill the rest.

I made a bunch of clones from the LA Confidential branch that I accidentally broke off while spraying purecrop1.
A week ago I put the branch in a vase with water, after spraying the crap out of it. Day before yesterday I chopped the branch up and dunked them in water to wash off any oils, then dunked the clippings in sulfer water for 15 minutes then put them in solo cups with water.
I’m gonna put the in some soil or peet cubes later today.
Hopefully I can save the mothers and the clones.
I aslo made a bunch of clones from the Black Widow hopefully they survive. I doubt the mother will recover. Im gonna bomb the mother plants and the clones with this stuff tonight

Damn I’ve been doing some reading and watching a couple videos on YouTube about russets. Man they seem a bit fierce. Li am reading tho if u have a grow room that was infested with them. Empty clean and set a heater in room closed up and get the room to about 115 degrees for about 20 to 30 mins should kill off anything that is left in the room. Anything over 105 is what I’m seeing kills the. Off if caught early on it don’t seem like they can be that high of a deal. if not caught fast enough they r like cockroaches and spread fast from what I’m seeing in videos over night they can go from one plant to another totally hindering the pla t and at a fast pace. Good luck imma watch a long to see how u fix this issue if it is fixable.

Thanks glad to have you along. My grow space is a unfinished closet in my garage. I have no way to seal it up to be able to heat it that hot. Im a total research junkie. Ive spent the last week or so reading and watching videos. Im gonna move them out of the garage and into my storage shed then bomb them with this.
Then Ill move them into my house into my spare bedroom. Im fairly confident the clones will be free of them bastards. I doubt the Black Widow mother plant will survive. The 2 LA Confidentials are super hardy. They are clones from last years outdoor greenhouse grow. I rooted them in a glass of water. In a week they had roots. I was trying to keep them small at first but they just keep growing past the light. In June they will be put outside they’ll probably already be over 6ft tall.

And the wife sez I have stuff hehehe, but I understand the things that have to be done and done fast. My mash room use get infections some good some bad, the bad ones needed to be done and gone or end up dumping a 8 yr backset on a nice whiskey. Get and get em good.

I just dealt with spider mites… i finally used a product from growers ally that worked great. I tried CJDB, Mammoth, and finally growers ally. Im also fogging preventatively this grow also. I just harvested a watermelon auto today thats been in the room with previous infestation amd under a microscope checking wvery bud and leaf and there were no signs of mites. Im also looking at a product from organicshield. This is more for preventative maintenance than an issue now. Once you get everyrhing under control, continue maintaining for at least a cycle.

Normally I start my plants from seed in April. I took some clones from my best plants last year. I got lazy on my normal bug preventative maintenance and the garage closet was dirty and dusty and really dry. Perfect conditions for russet mites to thrive. I was just trying to get them through the winter and eventually put them outside in June.

Once i get everything under control I’ll go back to purecrop1 with Captain jacks dead bug and BT as a preventative. I cant use the purecrop1 untill a week or two after I’m done using micronized sulfur or it will burn the leaves.

Looks like you busted out everything and the kitchen sink.
I see you made new clones out of em.
Im still doing good, just watching the buds grow.

The micronized sulfur is the shitz for killing russet mites. Pyrethrin is good too but I wouldn’t use either of those during flower. The sulfur cant be used within 2 weeks of spraying with any kind of oils and you have to wait 2 weeks after using it before you can use any oily spray like Purecrop1. Ill keep using the sulfer for the next month or so then wait. Then switch back to my normal bug maintenance.
I’ve used most of those things and they take a lot of time and effort and it’s hit and miss.
I would suggest getting meat eating mites.
If you’ve positively identified them as two spot they have specific species for those.
This is a mix of 4 species if unsure of which species of mite.
Pine pollen can be used as a supplemental food for them and they also sell a product for that.
Hope this helps

Here’s what I get when I searched what kills russet mites.
One species of predatory mite, Amblysieus andersoni , is known to feed on hemp russet mites. Two predatory mites, Phytoseiulus persimilis and Amblysieus californicus, are used in twospotted spider mite management but are not effective against hemp russet mites.

Russet mites are hard to kill. Micronized sulfur is whats recommended. I have used predatory insects in the past. Im not opposed to trying Amblysieus andersoni I tossed all the Black Widow clones and the mother plant that was infested with them. My other two plants are LA Confidential they weren’t affected like the BW. They will be put outside in June.
