Goodmorning Pharmer i asked the same question 2yrs ago i was ready to change out my burples. I bought a HLG 650R Scorpion great light runs at 60 percent. I also have 4 spiderfarm lights they have been my go to. I have the panel lights and the bar lights, i like the bars less heat generated maybe.
After that range it has a heavy drop off. What are your yield goals and budget? 2 plants or 5 in a 4x4 can yield similarly. It’s not about plant count, but your goal and time. Bigger the space the bigger the price tag, but there are some ‘budget’ options.
Im thinking a 4x4 i been growing with shop lights doing very well as to the extent that they can give i rather grow 1 big than 4 small i know i can grow with anything now i wanna enjoy my grows more than constant fighting my lights
I’m glad that thread might be of some use! Well I really like your approach. 1 plant is easy, consistent and the least amount of work. It will take significantly more time to veg out, but you can cater to its needs easier. If you don’t plan on going to more than 1 plant I’d recommend a 2x2 or 3x3 and a budget light. Depending on your level of skill or time you put in expect anywhere from 1 gram to 2.5 grams per LED watt. Wattage isn’t the best to determine a light for a space but it’s an idea. It’s not the same as MH or HPS. A 3x3 will give you room to do a small variety run with 4 plants if you ever want to. But if you think you might want to pack a 4x4 you are gonna definitely have to shell out a little more $$$. Coverage is king, and isn’t cheap. In the grand scheme of things, coverage can be “cheap” in the lighting world. The hard part is trusting the stats provided by manufacturers. My rule of thumb, if it says it handles a 3x3 it’s for a 2x2, if it says it handles a 4x4 it’s for a 3x3, if it says 5x5 it’s 4x4. There are some exceptions but more often than not, just size up. Then with each size comes with its own set of environmental problems/hardware demands to make sure the grow is successful. Which mostly comes down to humidity and temp control.
Like @TheAbu95 said he recently pulled over a LB from a 2x2. Honestly that’s amazing, and is awesome for a home grow. That’s a lot of bud. lol. If you don’t get obsessive with it, I don’t really see a need to go beyond that for personal.
questions are great
Always remember I shoot from the hip and manage with what I have. @Low is spot on withhis information. This is just part of my crazyness.

To the best of my knowledge ive got about 8 long beards on the 2 parcels im hunting, well 7 i guess lol. Bout 150 acers combined. Ive watched the flock grow over the past few years. Honestly i think all the money i dump into keeping them healthy and making sure they got everything they need without ventureing to far has helped their numbers tremendously!! Now if i can just cut back on the coyotes before this springs hatch me and the turkeys will both be in good shape lol.
Yes sir but the bigger plants are a year ago under 2 10000 lumin harbor frieght shop lights got lots nice buds from the old shop lights time to retire them to growing baby tomatoes an peppers
