I have returned to growing after 35 years of restriction. Love being licensed to grow, now. Totally blown away by this site and positive contributions members make. Makes me feel old and lacking as I read how the industry has changed.
Tent is 4’x4’x6.5’ with Vipar 900 Watt. Old seeds did not germinate well (7-10 years poor storage). NEW Seeds and purchased germinated very well with most relocated outdoors for environmental training with juvenile summer camping experiences. ILGM seeds due to arrive tomorrow. Plan 5 THC heavy seeds for germinating, 5 seeds for long-term storage and ten seed bag for swap. High CBD seeds needed next. Tent has 2 weeks with purchased clones (transplanted seedling cubes into gallon cut plastic containers, upon arriving home). Currently 3 reside in 4 gal buckets of purchased soil mediums. Four plants received top 5-fan leaf trim (7 node stalks, I want to “open” center stalk growth as well as retard height growth as I learn the training arts. Seedlings from ILGM will become clone parents. Planning fall expansion into another tent.
Hey there @DEEPDIVERDAVE , welcom to the forum.
Be careful not to over populate the tent.
I have a 3x4 tent with two plants and its actually overcrowded with just the two.
Autos will usually stay a little smaller if you chose those type for your tent.
If this is your light its not a true 900watt light.
I have similar lights from when I started and just use them for seedlings and early veg.
At some point you will want better lighting. Check in here before you purchase. Lots of good advice on lights
Yes, I agree better lighting and believe I am soon out of room.
But this run is just for getting my act together.
Practicing some old skills with new learned thanks to you all.
I will probably kill half (expect too), learning to get it right.
I have multiple LED 50s, 200/600, and 900.
All are too small for my 4x4, But I will make due until winter.
Thank you
Are you bringing the little campers in every night or are they outside all the time
Outside…
No more FROSTING, I hope.
Deer not active, yet.
Are you going to grow them outside or are you gonna bring them inside eventually
Both, I expect
Are they Auto’s or are they photo period
Who knows, the goal is to learn what I need to know, develop skills, hardware, and get better experience for this habitat.
ILGM seeds will come in sealed package and we will know.
Others did not
Where did you get the seeds
If they are photos its way to early to put them outside. They will start to flower too early in the year and then in june they will transitioning back into veg mode and in August transition back into flowering these transitionings can severely stunt the plants and cause a bunch of other issues. Photo period plants rely on a certain amount of light and dark to know when to start flowering. Photos are usually put outside the end of May beginning of June. This early in the year night time is longer than daytime that will trigger them into flowering as soon as they are mature enough could be as soon as 4 weeks but there wont be enough sunlight to grow very much. Youll have a small plant that stops growing and airy flowers that wont mature. When it starts transitioning back to Veg it will put out a bunch of wierd leaves and stop putting effort towards the little buds. The transition can take a month or more to get back to veg. That’s 4-6 weeks of transitioning instead of vegging. Nobody I know ever did this on purpose. Im sure there are a few here that have but there’s a bunch of stuff you have to do to make it work and its a pain in the a$$ and not IMO worth the hassle and rarely turns out as good as it could have.
If they are autos they will start flowering as soon as they are mature enough no matter how much light and dark they get so you’d be ok to put them outside now you might just end up with smaller plants than you otherwise would have with buds that are not very dense.
Whats your light schedule in there
Valid points not previously pondered.
Goal being START and see what works.
Clearly, I have 20x the needed number of plants.
Only the strong will survive my RESEARCH (we are past experimenting… ie GALLAGER)
I grow photos and start my plants indoors in April with a 18/6 light dark schedule. and put them outside after memorial day. They started flowering at the end of July. Its not about the age of the plant its the amount of light and dark that determines what the plant is doing.
Looking at the last picture those plants look big enough and old enough to start flowering If they are autos they should start flowering any time even under 18/6 thats normal. If they are photos and you put those plants outside they are gonna start flowering could be within a week or two but you dont want that. If you’re not sure if they are photo’s or auto’s keep them inside at 18/6 if they are autos they will start flowering anyway and thats OK If they dont start flowering in the next 3-4 weeks they are probably photo’s in that case keep them inside at least until mid May
Are you saying that some of your plants are clones. If so they are definitely photo period plants. Cant clone a Auto
Being clones i would start a preventive insect regimen. Just me. Better safe and all that. Welcome back to growing. And welcome to the family.
Clones occupy crown and are just for learning.
ILGM Super Silver Haze Feminized seeds will be the BREED/GENETICS/future
Most “outside” plants are planted pre-emerged (seed splitting)
Clones obtained from reputable commercial producer, but your comment is a concern that bears watching, I can see where the introduction FROM OUTSIDE/elsewhere can bring bugs.
THANK YOU.
If I am being pro-active, what BUG ridder do you recommend?
