Retail Vape Carts

Have any of you ever heard of the use of flavoring in retail vape carts? I get that terpines can make a strain taste a bit like it’s name. GSC for instance has an earthy, minty smell and taste. I just hit an Apple Zskittles cart and it tastes a lot more like apples than I though it might. The resemblance is uncanny and I’m wondering if flavoring might have been used. It’s just too similar.

I did find this, but it really tastes as if it might be flavored.

“A study found that the most common terpene in apple fruit was alpha-farnesene. Other terpenes from that family were also found in large amounts such as farnesol and beta-farnesene. These kind of terpenes have been found to be useful as insect repellents and antibiotic action among other uses. Alpha-farnesene is most likely the terpene responsible for some of the fruity, green apple scents and tastes a few cannabis varieties give off.”

I know they are doing it in Michigan…my friend had one that tasted just like grape koolaid. My understanding is they are starting to get terpenes from non-cannabis sources…fruit etc. and adding it to vape carts. Not sure where I read that…will post a link if I can find it again.

Interesting. This cart came from Michigan.

Some disreputable commercial growers spray Chinese sourced terpines on their flower. I got some street weed a few years ago. I always microscope my weed. I started researching what trich pic looked like and it was spray-on terpines. I’m not certain, but it sure looked similar. I wish I had saved the pic. I threw the weed out. I really think it was some sort of synthetic terpines based on the searches I did.

The wonderful world of processed cannabis extracts. Carriages are made many different ways. Some preserve the “true” terps of the strain. While others add none existing terps from outsourced products to increase the overall flavor.
I have been smoking grass for the past 25 years and I personally won’t hit the juicer (vape cart) due to how they are made and the concept. You might think only three or four ingredients are in it tell it gets vaped. Then those three or four compounds turn into over 150 un-known small vape particles coat the inside of your lungs.
Man you cant get more organic than that, right? lol

Happy farming…

You can purchase terpenes online. One source is “true terpenes”. All the terpenes are sourced from other plants. They have a large selection of individual terpenes, but they also mix terpenes to enhance those terpenes found in specific pot profiles, for example, you can buy cherry pie or og kush where the terpene profile you add matches those in the strain. They custom blend them for you as well.

So ya, it’s really easy to enhance the smell and taste by cheating.

I’ve purchased from them before when I was making nicotine vape juices. Theirs is incredibly strong. It only took 2 drops per 100 ml bottle of juice.

…you reminded me I still have a ProVari and a Reo Grand from when I quit smoking (and when the nasal snuff was not societally acceptable enough). Tapered down my milligrams using a lot of Mt Baker Vapor juice towards the end.

I don’t vape any more and use lozenges. I came out of the womb addicted to nicotine. It’s been a lifelong struggle.
