Remember...this is NOT a sanctuary

Oh, here’s a really funny piece I must add for all the viewers out there.

I have an older sister that graduated in '75, one year before me. She was Valedictorian of her class…I couldn’t even spell it, not that I wanted to…

My parents paid for her to attend UCLA (it was much cheaper in the late 70s), but they wouldn’t pay for college for me, because I wanted to study music. As you might imagine they didn’t like my taste of music too much. There was a Tower Record up at Balboa/Devonshire I spent some coin at. My son was able to get accepted to UCLA in 2009, and I paid $25k/year to let him attend a special art program called DESMA (Design and Media Art). I wanted to go to Cal Arts so bad, another place I used to go up and hang out, artists living in their studios, music from different continents, they actually had a Sitar teacher, John Cage…so many famous music professors. But my parents could have afforded it but wouldn’t do it…

Today my older sister is a housewife that doesn’t use the degree she got, and I don’t have a degree and can’t get interviews for jobs I’m overqualified for. So go figure, Einstein said it best…“G*D must have been a comedian”.

No, I guess we can’t send PM here on IGLM. It must remain a mystery I 'spose…LOL

I enlarged your avatar but don’t think I recognize you. Looks like your daughter giving you the peace sign (or My Favorite Martian) photo bomb in the background.

I’ll give you a hint who I am. In my class of '76 there were only 2 families that owned liquor stores, and the other one was Mark Schilling. His Dad owned a liquor store in North Hollywood somewhere. Clearly not the same level of excitement as Southeast L.A. where my Grandparents had their store…and we had a gun store next to our liquor store…a bar next to it…I doubt they would even give those 3 licenses next to each other today.

I knew lots of people in swas but dont remember names much, Im 63 and suffer from CRS syndrome.
I remember the name Generini and vegly remember hearing about the streaking incident.

Do you rember a blind guitar player named Tom Lang he used to play at a lot of those parties that the helicopters showed up at. He didnt go to school with any of us.

I know we know at least some of the same people or know of them, cause there was a couple in our “surfer” clique. Even the one of the Counslers was Kleinberg, he was this hippie type teacher that also taught SWAS. And another SWAS teacher, Livingston was married to one of the regular English teachers I had. She was nice to the kids…

For others following along, SWAS stood for School Within a School, it was not conventional desks as you have in a typical room, that was the type of school I went to, but SWAS had a their own 2 story building and was a very casual and laid back environment with couches and bean bag chairs. It was like hippie school, where they could connect with the students and get them interested and teach them important things in life. Sure, it was probably a failure as the school system wouldn’t never take that position today, rather they want to tell you what gender your child is, or worse the establishment now wants to let us allow parents to decide what gender a child is.

All of this School Within A School concept of kicking back on a bean bag chair, watching your laptop, well we didn’t have laptops but I did go to the US festival which was sponsored by Apple. And there was a friend in SWAS, Jon Ferarra who worked at the ComputerLand in Woodland Hills when I was getting involved in high tech. He created a software company named Goldmine, it was originally written in dbase/clipper. His offices were at Sunset Blvd. and Pacific Coast Highway overlooking the ocean…not too bad for a hippie kid from some strange environment of education.

And for me, I don’t take any paramedicals unless I have to, nothing. I don’t even take Tylenol unless I get a fever. Occasionally Ibuprofen (advil) for muscle pain/injury maybe twice a year. I know that cannabis is a drug, but it is natural. And seriously, it is the only mind alteration I want in life. My acid days are over. I think the psychedelic experience is of great value, but mushrooms are much easier to get today and I think they’re much safer in regard to having a bad trip. I’ve always had a good experience with mushrooms, but about 6 or 7 years ago I went mushroom hunting with a friend, he was pointing out all types of different mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, good, Chantelle yeah those are expensive at TJoes…death caps, don’t ever eat those, they’ll kill you…he even knew exactly where to find Amanita Muscaria, I once ate them in a cow field up in Salem, OR…red caps with white dots…

He knew exactly the type of sunlight and covering to look for. As a kid I only knew they also grew in cow $#!T. Then he showed me another one that was different colors and said you could also eat the cap, it’s the dots that are like fuzzy and that’s what actually has the psychedelic active ingredient…and people are walking their dogs through this area where a small rain forest exists at the coast…it’s public no charge!

In my youth I would have eaten those mushrooms in a minute, but after a while they all start kinda looking like each other just different colors and it’s hard to tell the bad ones from the good ones…sure my friend did know, he had books on mushroom hunting ,and it’s for eating not psychedelics…the Japanese have their own variety of mushrooms the same as we do…mushrooms are one of my favorite vegetables, I’ll take a mushroom/cheese burger, with avocado all the better, any day of the week.

It’s strange, I had legitimate prescriptions for ROAR 714s, now I won’t even take Tylenol. My Mom takes massive amounts of pharmaceuticals, as do both my sisters, all on blood pressure medication…all live with the thought there’s a magic pill that will make life perfect. I have learned there is no such pill…only one that makes you larger, one that makes you small, so go ask Alice when she’s 10 feet tall…

Eat natural healthy food that doesn’t have processed B#!!$#!T in it or natural fats replaced with B#!!$#!T lard that preserves the process crap on the shelf longer so they can sell you for a longer period. We p!$$ and $#!T all of that out through our prostate and colon, think about that for a few minutes…we do see a lot of cancer in those organs, in both men and women. I wonder what it could be???
