This is my second grow and it’s turning out like my first, going into flower my plants look Great, then a month later, yellowing, brown spots, etc…
It sucks devoting two months time then it all goes to crap. Can anyone help? I’m gonna try one more time and if I’m not successful I’m quitting.
Soil: FF Happy frog in solo cup, then happy frog/ocean forest mix into 1 gallon fabric, then happy frog/strawberry field mix into the 3 gallon.
2X4 tent with 2 Viper P1000 leds.
Use tap water (close to 300 ppm) and the Fox Farm trio. feeding 6.5 ph
When the yellowing started I flushed, fed Epsom salt, molasses nothing helped…What is causing such a quick decline when I switch to 12/12?
People say I have deficencies, others say nute burn? I don’t know what to do at this point? 5 weeks into flower are these even worth growing another month?
For the most part it’s a great grow. Some of that is nutrient burn, but the older fan leaves are a normal to lose especially late flowering.
I would continue feeding nitrogen, as well as PK for flowering nutrients.
Are you following the fox farms schedule?
When you flushed did you feed again immediately after?
thanks for the reply. when I flushed I didn’t feed nutes, the first watering after was just ph’d water and epsom salts, then the next molasses. I haven’t fed much nutes since the flush a couple weeks ago. before going into flower I amended the top half of the pot with straight Strawberry fields which has a high phosphorus % so I’ve been using the Tiger Bloom bottle very sparingly.
You pretty much diagnosed your whole situation right there.
I would start feeding more regularly until they’re finished, they have a quite a few weeks to go.
This is why you have the yellowing though. They probably will get worse, but they’ll finish.
Really have to keep up with the epsom salt when using fox farms. Some reason their line just doesn’t have enough magnesium. How often are you giving epsom? Or did you just start after the flush?
I’ve been told to avoid nitrogen this late into the grow is that wrong? Fox Farm has you stop using the Grow Big bottle half way through flower? what should I be feeding these plants for the last month+? And I’m For Sure ditching bottled nutes next grow, gonna try dry amendments. I’d LOVE to have my crop look like Mr. Canuck
It’s not that you should avoid nitrogen, as much as nitrogen isn’t needed as much in flowering. You should continue feeding nitrogen, the plant will use what it needs.
A lot of forum members are using Jacks 321, and it’s the same recipe from seed to harvest.
Bobby had some excellent Points on the epsom salt. He’s not wrong.
I was using botinicare CalMag for most of the grow but realized my county water supply has a high calcium content so I switched to just epsom. I’ve used it just a couple times since the flush. Also since my tap h20 sucks I have a lot of salt content in my soil, the Blue Dream ppm runoff was over 3000.
OK thanks for the help I’ll look into Jacks 321, is it a dry amendment? I’m also thinking about switching soils, Coco by itself seems like a difficult proposition when it comes to feeding. I want this to be easy haha… So many of the You Tube guys say once the plants go into flower it’s smooth sailing and no issues should arise… YEAH RIGHT!!
They’re not wrong with Jacks. That’s what makes it easy. A lot of growers use coco with Jacks, but you can use it with soils too.
Jacks is dry water soluble fertilizer, that works in any grow medium, or non medium.
Calcium and magnesium is in the recipe, so there’s no need to add it separately.
A couple of other idiosyncrasies of FF Trio: most grow schedules published online are based on 700 scale TDS and we in the USA use 500 scale. Be sure you are using the correct one when measuring TDS. You’ve flushed and that’s good as FF also recommends periodic flushing of built up salts. As stated you should continue with some N in your supplements though the plant’s demand for N goes down in flower. The yellowing you see is pretty normal although something I try to avoid, myself. Others work to get that yellow canopy.
Many forum members are using just the 321 supplements. Part A Part B and Epsom salt. You can use plain Epsom from your local grocery store. Jack’s sales several extra supplements, bloom, finish and a few others. But essentially all you need is the A and B . Results vary, some are using the extras some aren’t. I’m only using A and B and have had excellent results. It can be used with soil, soil less or hydroponics. It’s the same components and mixture from start to finish. No guessing about what stage and which nutrients to use. I’m using it in soil and I’m more than pleased with the results. Here’s a picture of one of my ladies using Jack’s in soil.
