I have read multiple times that a plant can be made to “re-veg” after flowering. I have not seen this in my recent experience. I made several clones in January to see if I could do it. I ended up with more plants than I could care for indoors, so I put them out in February. Since the days were short, they all started to flower. After a while I brought a couple of them back indoors on 24 hour lights, and left a couple of others outside as the days got longer.
Three months later all of the plants that had flowers are still blooming. The ones I brought inside have warped and twisted leaves. The ones left outside are healthy with big leaves. But the flower tops are all spread out and interspersed with big fan leaves. You might say that they are in veg phase because they’re making big leaves and growing taller, but they are still covered with flowers and have (especially lower down) some white pistils. The upper flowers had pistils that turned orange and finally dropped off. They are still heavily budded, but very leafy. And the trichomes are greatly reduced.
So my experience is that you can’t really re-veg a plant that has gone to bloom. One final experiment I am conducting is to bring the biggest plant back into a 12/12 light schedule to see what happens. Will fresh trichomes come back? Will new flowers form? Will it go to seed because it’s been blooming so long? Who knows?
Do NOT remove the buds (flowers) because that is where your main new branches will grow from. When you want to rejuvinate, remove 70% of your buds, leave the lower branches and buds. Change the light cycle to 18/6 and moderate water with a standard plant nutrients but increased Nitrogen.
Then leave them alone, only remove dead foilage but do not touch the buds. When they start sprouting new grow from the buds it is very fragile. Be extremely carefull when removing dead leaves or growth. Apart from the sprouting buds the plants will make new leaves.
After 6 weeks from harvest, change to 18/6 and I was back on 12/12 and its now 7 weeks later and it is an awesome harvest, much larger then before.
No seeds will come unless pollinated. When you change the light cycle the plant will just stop flowering. However if the flowering fase has not finished yet, then the plant will get stressed.
As long as all other conditions remain good, temp, ph, humidity ect, she will start veg stage again and she will grow much larger. But if she is in an pot, then you might get problems because the roots can grow anymore.
I let my plants grow into the soil underneath, so they have a very well formed root system which gives it a lot of strength to handle stress. I used to buy seeds, grow and cut but i think there is something wrong with that method. Nature is not intended to be used that way. I have awesome plants coming up to a year old and the harvest is getting better every time, i see increase no decrease with rejuvination.
