Question for Pro Mix growers

Hey everyone. I see Pro Mix soil mentioned on the forum often. I’ve never used it, but saw this at my local farm supply. Is this the stuff pro mix growers are using?

I believe @Myfriendis410 has grown with Promix before.

First time grower and i use pro mix but not that kind i use the red package. The name of that makes me think it has mycorrhizal in it which would be beneficial in my opinion, i added Mykos to my soil now prior to planting my youngest two which is supposed to be majorly beneficial

I’m starting my 4th grow and have always used Coast of Maine or happy frog because of availability, but I wouldnt mind trying something different. @JamJam are you indoor or outdoor?

Indoor, 4x4x7 tent

I use the promix medium with mykos and worm casings and no nutes for the first 3 weeks besides adding Mr Fulvic to the tap water…then i use jacks 321 line for nutes

I use worm casting and Jack’s as well.

In the last couple weeks i have added multiple little diy co2 generators (pop bottles with sugar, yeast and water) in the tent, a couple behind the tower fan dispersing it in theory and one by each plant as well… as ive read cannabis loves it!

Haven’t gotten a co2 monitor yet though, just been pumping it in lol

I use Pro-Mix CC exclusively for plants not in hydro. It is the best IHO. It is almost impossible to over water with ProMix. You will need a good nutrient, (I use Jacks for hydro and most of the time for ProMix), and CalMag.

I haven’t dabbled with the o2, just because I was advised that it wont make a difference unless you are utilizing light to the max. I cant remember the logistics, it might have been info I got from @dbrn32 or @Covertgrower. It’s also pretty expensive to do it on a legit level, and I’ve been happy with my end results without it so far.

I’m not sure what other pro mix products they carry, but I’m going to look into it. I really like the coast of maine soil, but it seems to be a more compact. It has enough nutrients to go a long ways before feeding, but you cant water it more than twice a week, at least I cant in my environment. It means less work, but if I have a ph issue or anything like that, it’s more difficult to correct or flush, where as happy frog has less nutrients but drains much better.

Yes :+1: that the stuff you want right there, with some Bio Live 5-8-4 and you good through veg to flower before you need nutrients .

@GenghisRon yeah i have read similar conversations on here about it…people on both sides…i figure its super cheap and can’t hurt so why not…i would really know if it’s present if i’d just get a monitor …but i will soon. And idk if i have max light but i have a 1000w KingLED and a 600w mh light in the 4x4 tent ( will switch to hps in a week or two for flower)…

There was a discussion about co2 and light awhile back on one of my threads, if I can figure out how to post it here I’ll share it with you. It was some good info from some of the experienced folks on here

Right on…yeah i watched/read a large discussion…lots of technical information and people saying its a waste unless ya get all super scientific about it…im not …im just doin a super simple set up that may or may not help my plants but it certainly wont hurt. My idea came from another guy on here and he says when he doesn’t do it compared to when he does do it it not only has a very large difference on his monitor but he says he noticed better buds…so with how simple it is i am all for it for even a small assistance if any but maybe even a larger one idk to my plants then im all for it :man_shrugging:

He said his co2 would go from like 400 to over 1200…on a legit monitor/meter so i mean if its that much more increased in the atmosphere in the tent then in my mind there is no way that it is not being beneficial in some way…but again it’s super cheap and easy so i opted to do em

I haven’t played with CO2 either. Not saying it doesn’t have its place. Have to have certain meters, and sealed grow area, and most of all, a lot of light.

Yeah, it isnt going to hurt to try. I had considered using it awhile back, but I was in the process of building a grow room and focused more on trying to perfect the environment. Quickly learned that building a grow room is never really finished.
