Yes they are. Though I’ve never re-used a fabric pot, as they’re cheap and get a bit ugly so I just tossed them after a grow, I do re-use the mesh pots as they cost much more than the fabric pots but they clean up very nicely and could be re-used for a long time.
@Hellraiser Since my grow tent is 6ft tall and I’m using hps/mh lights, should I go with the 3 gallon mesh pots?
As said before, poster worthy
LST around week 2-3 (my preference) that’s usually the time to top of fim. I give them a period to recover them insecure the base with a tie and bend the main stem down and tie down on the other side. You’ll notice that they start reaching back up to the light along with side branch growth. I use landscaping pins early until the reach the outside nod the pot. I then tie the sides down. Keep bending them down and tiring off. A scrog net is usually placed about 8” above your pot for the stems to grow through. Once you notice that tuck them in a new square in the net. Tuck and weave until you like how the net has filled out then flip your light schedule. I know that was a quick down and dirty with no visual aid. A lot of good post on here showing this method of controlling your vertical growth and exposing underlying bud sites. ![]()
Yeah I think 3 gals would be fine for coco and then could even go solo cup to 3 gal mesh pot, just one transplant and done.
@OGIncognito you’ve helped more than you know! I’m a visual person but I was able to invision what you said. I’ve watched a few videos that uses the tuck and weave method so now I know that it’s one of the things I should try!
I’ve read on the forums that you want to grow in veg stage until about 50% of your grow space is covered (plants are healthy) and then switch over to flowering. Would that be accurate to the amount that they grow in the flowering stage? @Hellraiser
Edited to add: specifically to photos?
Yeah you gotta plan for the flowering stretch so leave some room for that, though vertical space is the one you really don’t want to run out of, don’t want your plants to get too tall and grow into the light. I do fill my tent wall to wall before flowering though. I top my plants and use a net to help keep them shorter but I still end up with 6 foot tall plants. LOL
My veg tent usually looks like this right before I start flowering.
That depends on your grow space, how many plants. Realistically you could take one plant and spread her out over a good 3 x 3. The main thing is try and keep your canopy even, that’s where the tuck and weave comes in. When she turns up to the light and is long enough to tuck in another square go for it. It’s totally up to you. More plants mean a fuller net. Have fun with it and you see that damn, that’s not so difficult. I’d love to be there when you flip the light schedule and a few weeks later…bam they’ve grown 2 feet and full. A lot of growers use a 21/42 day defoliation. Meaning 21 days after light flip you prune and remove leaves below your net and ones that are blocking lower bud sites. I go easy on this one, at day 42 you can revisit the defoliation and pruning again. I’m usually pinching leaves here and there through out my grow cycles if they’re healthy. I’m sure I missed something but @Hellraiser is probably the most experienced grower in the community! Plus he got tag name before I could
. I have to grow very discreetly where I live (Bible belt)
Same here with the discreet grow! The main reason you prune and take away specific fan leaves is to open up the bud sites to the light, right?
Just put the 21/42 (from when they popped, right?) reference in my notebook for grows ![]()
Edited to add: I’ll tag you in my grow journal too! I’d love all the advice I can get!
Good morning Hempqueen9. The 21/42 is from the day you flip the light from 18/6 to 12/12. This of course after you have your girls and the canopy where you want it in the net basically you control your veg period, mine typically are around 6 weeks. By controlling the veg period I’m saying it’s all up to you and the tucking and weaving to a point that you like the flatness of the plant canopy. Then flip the light and start your countdown to 21 days then 42. But like I said I will pinch leaves here and there if their healthy ![]()
And yes to expose more bud sites
