Question about the dark period

My plants are done and flushed out. I read that you put them in 48 hours of darkness. What is the perpose of this.

I believe the thought process is plants recover during the dark period the tricomb develop and recover from the light exposure during this time. So 48 hours straight darkness kinda gives it a little extra push prior to harvest. Please correct me if I am wrong.

If you just flushed I think I would give it a few days before going to darkness until harvest. Just what I would do. You don’t want mold to start this late in the game.

I think the reason is because the plant sends starches back to the roots at night, so leaving the lights out helps the buds not contain the starches, making a better smoother tasting bud.

Disclaimer, I am by no means a scientist. Just what I read

There was a topic on splitting the main stem that touched on this IIRC. The point being that you are stressing the plant and it’s response is to produce more THC. My understanding is that you should flush, allow the plant to go dry, split the stem, deprive it of light for 48 hours then harvest.

Okay thanks for the info. I have already removed my lights so I think I’ll
just go ahead and harvest them now. Chalk it up as a learning experience.
Should still be some good smoke tho. I guess I should have asked you all
before I flushed.

What do the trichomes look like? That shouldbe your deciding factor.

On my mother plant they are half milky white and gold the other girls have
a pinkish color. I think you are talking about the pistols… Right

No the crystal looking things on your leafs and buds if you zoom in they kinda look like little.mushrooms

Oh okay yes I did look at them with a scope and they are mushroomed out.

I went ahead and hooked up my lights again cause I want to dry them out
some after flushing.

Oh okay yes I did look at them with a scope and they are mushroomed out.

But are they clear? Milky white? Or amber? I believe a mix if milky and Amber is the recommended.

Yes they are milky white and Amber. The others are milky white and pinkish

Then it sounds like you are about there! Let us know how it turns out.
