@latewoodNot sure what the problems exactly are, or how bad they really are. lol
I’m just going off feedback I’m getting from the photos I take and post.
I was told I have algae growing on my plants… I think I had a problem with the rapid rooters staying too wet in the DWC…?
I am also having temperature problems in the reservoir so I’m told.
It gets up to 75 in the hottest part of the day…
All I’m able to notice is my plants seem small, but sense I have 0 experience with plants, and can’t see other photos to compare the growth, it’s not very useful. lol
@ParanormanI have already bought the Pro Mix…
Depending on how the soil type grow goes, I’ll either try other soil types once my supply is used up, or try rockwool, and try the DWC in the winter.

Reservoir temps in the heat of the day at 75f is kind of high; However; I do not think it would hurt the plant substantially. I would recommend that you shade it or find a way to get temps below 70f in a reservoir
Hi, can I first say how much i freaking love this website, I am so addicted. I am so glad I found this info on the Pro Mix. 2 yrs ago I used Fox Farm, started a grow a month ago and due to money, found Pro Mix was sold at a feed store mins from my house and it was cheaper. I did add extra perlite but thats it. I started nutes at the 2nd week, i am using General Organics this go round. I fed all my ladies 1/2 strenght for the firs feed, then full strength since then. So, getting to my question, i am having a hard time with the water schedule as they dirt doesnt seem to want to dry out, I have now taken the approach, listen to the dirt not the schedule, which then takes me to nutes once a week and water once a week, Is this Wrong? I keep reading about feeding schedule of water water feed water water feed, how much water am i supposed to be giving my ladies? When I water, i have 16 plants so I get 8 gallons of water in my bucket, mix the nutes and feed or water. I give each plant a half a gallon of water/nutes each, i let it drain for about an hour then i vac up the excess. I wont do this again for like 4 days. my pot sizes are some 3 gallon pot and some 4 gallon pots. I am now on week 5 of veg, still on 24hr light schedule for another week, then will make the switch to 12/12. Thanks in advance.

Water water feed but ive done it both way water feed water as long as your soil/mix is dry enough to water or feed you should be okay from my experience half gallon every fourth day sound about right for your plants age hope this helps

You should not be following any schedule in relation to using ProMix in pots. You water whenever the medium is almost dry/. Promix will go totally dry if left too long, even a day too long and you can water stress your plants. I tend to find that every 2-3 days when I am in 1 gallon pots.
Once I transplant, into 5 gallon pots, I only need to water every 2-4 days depending on how much water I use.
Once plant is in flower I am back to every 2-3 days.
Now this appears to be a schedule but, I have explained what I have witnessed. Just do not let the pots completely dry out, and that is when you water

Thank you for the info. I am using some 3 gallon and some 4 gallon pots, I gave 1/2 gallon on Nutes to each pot on the 18th, I noticed most were finally dry yesterday, so I have it one more day to let the others dry more. Today I gave all of them 1/2 gallon of water, just water.
also I noticed roots coming out of the bottom of the pot, is that supposed to be happening? they are white if that makes a difference. TIA

Roots grow out of pots looking for water. You should not wait before watering dry pots! Water immediately, whether all others are ready or not.

Stick finger into soil to first knuckle if dry water correct sir ??
That’s just it, when I stick my finger in the soil, still moist. I have a love hate relationship with this dirt LOL

I also grow in Pro-Mix BX.
What is the RH in your grow space?
If it’s too high, your soil won’t dry properly.
Seems like my plants need watered every four to five days.
The way I check it is pinch some soil from the first 1" or so between two fingers and squeeze it. If a drip of water comes out your good.
I use the Pro mix on top of my KindSoil.
It gives my plants their “clean water zone.”
Just my thoughts.

I found a thread on bottom watering, duh, why wouldn’t I find everything I need on this site lol. I found a thread on music, which I play music in my grow room.
This is a typical old gardeners trick. Yes; If you want to stick your finger 2" deep into medium to determine whetehr to water or not. I can just look at the pots and tell by grabbing and testing weight; Whih workcs also. Good way to go.

qst of all; ProMix is not dirt or soil! It6 is a grow medium or soil less medium.
Promix can still be damp and need to be watered. C’mon; It is not that hard. If the pot is heavy with moisture, it does not need to be watered; On the 2md or 3rd day; You must water and you can check the weight of container; It will be very light

I didn’t realize the Promix wasn’t actually dirt, my bad completely. I am going back to Fox Farm products next grow, The Promix was a vicinity/pricing/timing issue for this grow. I am going by the weight method tho, if I can lift it easily then I water, sometimes one or 2 maybe dry but the others might need another day, I feel like if the dirt gets a little dry in between, maybe that would give the roots some air flow.

There is no dirt to dry out.Just water each plant individually, when it needs to be watered
you’ve got me wondering now what Ive got my ladies growing in. Im going to look up the Pro Mix BX to see just what Ive got going on. I thought when I bought it, that it was just a general purpose dirt, not knowing it isn’t dirt at all.
