Hi guys,have about 6 or so autos,ww,haze and girl scout cooks all still seedlings. Have them outside in sun all day and under 4 T5s at night. My question is, i read that plants need some darkness during 24hr period. Is this for all types (photos and autos) or is it ok to leave lights on all night. Their in supa-soil in a supa secret spot (cupboard in spare room). I’m sorry for boringness of question but very much newbiefied.
Some dark time gives them a rest maybe consider at least 4 hours. However autos will grow under 24 hour lights to my understanding.

Auto do best under at least a 18/6 light cycle imo I have done 24 (costly) and they do well under a 12/12 light schedule I believe everything living needs a little rest

I’m no pro, but imagine working out 24 a day, with no rest/dark period you have less than optimal time to bulk up by letting the muscles repair.

I see everyone has given you about the same answer I like to think of it as limited amount of workers during the day they are busy making energy and storing it not too much focus on roots when the sun shines make hay kinda process. Now we turn off the sun what do they do? well no sense making hay so lets expand the roots it’s dark anyway? they use that stored energy to build bigger foundation thicken stems and do everything they can to make more hay once that sun shines Plants never really rest they have both dark and light processes if you were in hydro you would notice in a matter of days that giving them dark time increases roots. Bigger roots bigger fruits it makes them more efficient at gathering the building blocks they need to grow

thanks for thoughts@donaldj, wellll sorta same answer,everything from, with autos keep lights on 24/7 from seed to harvest,to give them a little rest 20/4, to give them a sleep 18/6. To be honest i am just so happy i got no.of responses. Everyone has their own thoughts and ideas,and isn’t that whole purpose of forums?. It proves this one works and hats off to IGLM.
