Just a stupid question regarding ppm. Ppm in less than 100. Ppm out 1300. What do these numbers mean? I know its a measure of how the plant intakes nutes but im not sure how to interpret them. Im usind FFOF and have only fed once in 5 weeks of growth. 20200423_081319|281x500
@Phoneman. It means that at 5 weeks your ffof is getting almost to the “ depletion “ point. In other words almost time to start feeding.
Usually when runoff reaches 800-1000 ppm
then start with a 500-600 ppm in feeding.
Autos generally don’t do well with overly heavy feedings.
So a high number means the plant is lacking in nutes?
If your PPM out is 1300, but your only putting in less than 100 PPM, that means your plant isn’t taking in nutes. That is from my understanding on runoff testing. What are the recommended PPM of the nutrient line you are using? Also, what is the PH reading of your run off test?
Im in the ball park for the nutes. There all ff. But ive only fed onece just a 1/3 dose. Just wanted to get a better understanding of what im looking at. PH in about 6.5. Out about 6.0.
6.0 is on the low side, I would up the PH going in. Ideally, you want your PH out between 6.4 and 6.6
Pic of your plant? In natural light.
If your feeding with nutes at like a 500ppm strength and your runoff is always up above the 1000s, that means your plants metabolism is a little on the slow side. Ideally you would want your runoff numbers to be as close to your input numbers as possible. Otherwise you can break up your feedings by giving ph’d water only every other feeding or so.
Another piece of advice…the runoff ppm is not all made up of things available to the plant. So say if your runoff is 1500ppm…that doesn’t mean all of that is available nutrients or anything. Alot of what makes up that ppm number could be soil particles, microscopic pieces of perlite, etc.
With your ph coming out at 6.0…this shows you your issue
Okay…thanks all i think i understand it better now.
