Hey everybody me again. How do we feel about heat mats on the floor of my tent? My tent is in my basement and it’s starting to get cooler down there. My temperature inside my tent is 75°ferinheight 23°c - 24°c about67° ferinheight lights out. My thermometer is on the floor of my tent. The pots seem to be really cool in the morning when the lights come on. Its definitely going to be violet as we are getting in to the colder months. Should I use heat mats or bad idea???
I have concrete floors and I place my plants on risers. I imagine you could put a heating mat below them, but I’d be leery of electrical problems
Good idea. I’ll check it out. Thanks
These are perfect. They come in several sizes and I also turn them over and use them to help carry the plants.
I’d just put them on some wood planks at worse but truthfully unless your getting Temps of below 62 I wouldn’t even worry a lil
You could put a heater in ur basement and lift ur plants up off the floor
I totally agree - Pot IS kinda cool!!
Oh…that’s not what we’re talking about?
I agree with the small pallet or plank idea, that’ll allow the air to circulate around the pots when it’s warm and insulate them from the cold when it’s not.
You could always time the lights to be on when it’s cooler outside and off when it’s warmer, i.e. off during daylight and on at night.
I bought a small heater for other purposes at Walnutz last winter and it’s literally 8" square and puts out a ton of heat. For the footprint it’s a powerhouse and would easily heat a tent space. I has a dial thermostat but no numbers or anything but I’m sure with a little trial and error could be dialed in to run only when needed. It has tip-over shut off and I’d feel safe enough if it were only running for short periods at a time.
You could always get a multi-timer and let it run for a period and off and on and of, etc.
But, as mentioned, unless the temps are extremely low the only negative might be a slightly reduced growth rate.
HGE!!
Oh yea and if you’re running autos you can do a 6/2 schedule to regulate the Temps so it’ll only cool slightly with lights off
The seedling heater mats are water resistant, and you definitely can place them under the pots. I’ve done this, and it really helps in cold areas.
I built some wooden stands to get my plants up off the floor. It gave me some room to place some shallow aluminum trays under the plants to hold water so I can raise the humidity during veg. The trays come out when I go to flower so the humidity can drop back down.
On a 6/2 right now in back tents. Working great.
Man I really like that. Great idea. Perfect for my situation. My weekend project.
The stands worked great for me. I was in a cold garage at the time and needed a way to get the plants up off the floor. That gave me some room to place some aluminum cookie trays under them where I could add water to increase humidity. I’ve moved from the garage these days, but still use them. I struggled for some time trying to get the climate where it needs to be to keep the girls happy, but it’s pretty much dialed in now. You can definitely build the stands. Nothing but wooden frames with legs. The top boards just sit in the frame and can be removed for cleaning if needed. The 6/2 lighting schedule can help as well. I’ve done a grow with that schedule and it does help maintain more stable temperature.
