So I have a basic and perhaps stupid question. Is all the time and effort to dry and cure simply to improve the taste and the way it burns, or does it actually increase potency as well? I’m thinking it doesn’t, and fast-drying a bud to smoke right after harvest would give the same high, just worse tasting and poorer burning. I’m asking because I am completely out of weed but only have one more week 'till harvest, and I need to try some right away!
You can but most here would say you have waited this long do rush a good thing
Don’t rush a good thing sorry
From what I have read, the last week or two they put on a lot of their final weight. I have read of a few who wished they had waited that extra week but you can take some out early anyway if you want. Personally when I get that low and I’m waiting I smoke the fan leaves I removed for light penetration to get me by.
Yeah like stomper said smoke the leaves, but for me i grind the leaves, let them dry a bit if they aren’t breaking and then makr them into powder. I use a ginder wich can collect the powder from bud, this way the leaves don’t have an awfull taste. And roll a joint with tobacco if you moke tobacco ofc
I find buds speed dried or picked early dont have the same effect and would be a waste
If u have to take some do it from the lowest buds as they will dry into nothing anyway
If it was me I would go with out and wait
Get you a lower bud or two and relax no big deal…
Lol patience young grass hopper!
did you peek before Xmas?? lolol… H
LOL, thanks everybody!
I may be in the minority here but I sample before harvest and dry in my oven at 100 degrees
I still prefer the dried and cured bud but when I am out and that close to harvest I clip a lower shoot and go to town…
High Times had an article about this and apparently some of the sap needs time to change from sugars to the good stuff. This article mentions that if properly cured you can increase the potency quite a bit.
I would be very interested to know the updated science to it.
Well that is interesting, but I do think I’ll go with Paulcrf and just snitch a smidgen!
I had the same issue. I was running low on medication prior to first harvest (not OUT, but uncomfortably close) so I clipped some lower buds. They vaped fine, but I can definitely tell the difference since letting it sit and cure now for a while. The potency of it is so much better now, but it was so much better snagging some of my own product instead of going to a dispensary.
Smoking your own bud is the best.
I agree mine has always been the best maybe cause of all the love and care I give it or just cause I make myself think so lol
Preach it brother! Mike
Hey gang, as with any of the quick drying methods you lose some potency! Now if I am out of weed, watch out 7 or 8 week old plants that are in bloom and just a week or more from harvest! I only wish that a few fan leaves would do it for me, but after thirty-three years of smoking bud, it’s hard to go backwards? Also, marijuana does improve with proper drying and curing. This part of the harvest has it’s own set of rules and can make or break the quality of your product! Later, Mike
wish I could go to a dispensary
