Some not all, match plant foods cal nitrate/citrate not carbonate etc not just anything. I crushed pill into gal of water. It raises pH so only a part of the mix
My wife and I reside in a “medical only” state. We both decided to go “legal” and get our medical cards awhile back.
We found out rather quickly how much our state LOVES to up charge the green stuff. While simultaneously only allowing cash as payment and not card. If you use a card, we have to pay a card fee. Because some of our local state banks “don’t support this industry” So we decided to make some of our own😁
We came to find that on Amazon you can buy a whole indoor grow kit for roughly $400-$500. Tie up a couple other small purchases and you’re good to grow!
Seems like a lot of money up front for sure. But from what my wife and I calculated… ONE harvested grow will equal that amount you paid for up front. Heck that one harvest might be worth more than the whole setup!
Now we are slowly upgrading all of our equipment when the finances permit😉
Can you share with us what nutes you are using, any cost effective tricks you have learned?
I found this place looking for cheaper nutes I remembered seeing they sold nutes when I got the seeds the previous year I found the forum and after reading for months settled on trying jacks 321 per gallon it is so cheap and plants love it man I wish I found this place sooner everyone is so helpful welcome to the addiction
That’s the 2nd time someone recommended Jacks 321, I’ll have to try that. Thanks.
I’m currently using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil along with the liquid nutrient trio. I’ve only grown in this soil so I cant say much if it’s good or mediocre. But I’ve gotten some good bud from it so it does the job!
I’m actually planning on converting to Jacks 321 nutes after all my ff is gone. I’ve heard great things with jacks and it’s cheaper long term.
I do recommend starting with a cannabis friendly soil . Fox farm ocean forest , Roots organic. To name a ccouple. Most cannabis friendly soils will support the plants the first 4 or 5 weeks without feeding anything.
Happy Birthday @3M . And many more grow bro or sis.
Thank you
Happy birthday ! @3M
I think it’s fun for people to go granular on everything from lighting to nutrients. But I’m with the poor-people-grow team. I did my first grow last year: outdoor feminized photo White Widows that grew to 11-12 feet tall. I’ve been growing food organically for decades, and I just decided that, with few dollars to go on, I’d treat the weed the same way I treat tomatoes, it worked just fine. I ended the season with over two pounds from two plants.
Right now, my second grow is happy under the cheap shop lights I’ve been using for seed starting for many years. It works just fine, and several recent sources confirm that cheap ($20) shop lights work as well as the super lights I see many people write about.
Anyway, yes, you can do this cheaply. I did…and do. Maybe spending hundreds will get you a bit more product, but I’m getting more than I can use and I can supply friends and family. The only big bucks I’m spending are on seed.
Great story, thank you.
I had a great luck to have a former medical grower leaving the state to move over a sea and i got their whole setup super cheap. Checking craigslist or other platforms like that can yield a cheap alternative.
However, I did start with a baby LED light for $30, and white painted walls in the cellar. The soil choice for cannabis can help keep nute costs down, as FoxFarm soils have enough nutes for 3-4 weeks, so you can just up-plant or top dress to help there. Black strap molasses has calcium, magnesium, potassium and trace minerals that the plant will take up well, a tablespoon or two per gallon helps. I have had the same bottle for three years because I usually need it only the last few weeks of flower. I do use nutes from Green Planet, and they also have lasted me over a year now with plenty to go because of the Foxfarms soils.
Now I grow regular seeds, get males and females, so I can intentionally have seeds after harvests, but will answer the sirens call when I have a couple extra bucks on good strains online.
Good luck out there!
Does anyone have a clear explanation on male or female plants? Early signs. I watched all the videos and know about the pollen sacks and flowers and to look for a white hair. Is that really about it? I heard you can take a clone and rush it to bud to determine the sex.
Happy birthday @3M
I bought a hps light for $140 when I started.
Then a tent, seeds, and some nutes. I was less than $500. Got me though 2 grows
Yer you can just build up your grow, florescents and hids are really cheap with a budget tent light and seeds.
If your asking about sex you shout wait longer as many get the first pre flowers wrong. I’d say first few grows you should let it sex out lots first just to see the cycle. Should be easy to tell yourself after that. Can just post pictures of it’s prefowers.
Yeah you can take a clone and force it into flower if you have the time. or you could switch the lights to get the whole plant to show sex then flip them back into veg. If you flip your light to 12/12 you’ll know in a week or two and have plenty of time to get rid of any males long before they can pollinate your other plants.
So there aren’t any distinct characteristics to either until flower?
Sometimes males will be a little more vigorous, but no, there’s not really any signs until they show sex parts.
It doesn’t happen all at once. It starts at the nodes a few here and there. If you’re growing indoors your probably checking your plants at least once a day, right? Aint nothing gonna happen fast.
