So far I have not had much luck germinating seeds. I’ve tried 11 total so far on 3 seperate grows. I have only had 2 seeds sprout. I am using the method described by ILGM, using Distilled water. I am setting the seeds on top on a small cabinet in my kitchen, where the temp is always above 67 degrees, and averages about 69 degrees. Does anyone think they know what I may be doing wrong? This is such a bummer. I didn’t think germinating seeds would be this difficult.
i think thats too cold
ok. Thanks
@phil01543 I agree with @pptrsha1 I was having trouble germing my seeds so I placed them on a stand near the heat vent and kicked the heat up a tad they germed within 24 hours of making that change✌
please check with @Hellraiser and @Nicky. they will hold your hand and kick you in the butt along the way but you will grow great weed
Thanks for checking in. I finally got in touch with ILGM. They too think it’s a bit cold at the temps my kitchen is. I have 7 seeds to return to them if they would like. I’m bummed that they haven’t offered to replace them. Oh well. I have 2 plants growing right now. They are 3 weeks apart. One is just coming out of the seedling stage. So far so good. They are both OG Kush auto’s.
I live in Mass and this year was my 1st grow. I did 4 plants outdoors in 12 gal pots. Got them from my neighbor and he wasn’t sure what they were. But I figure 1 was a Super Silver Haze. It grew to be 36" and was super sticky. Then I had 3 other plants that were the same size, and also a sativa. I got a pound of buds out of the 4 plants. Both are kick ass! Sell great, taste great (I washed my weed), and are potent. I’ve done a lot of research. Bought my own grow set-up and am loving learning about and growing marijuana. Still a rookie, but fairly informed.
Supposed to say " Smells great, tastes great"
Personally I’ve had extremely good luck using the paper towel/baggie method. But that was back in the day and since I was buying seeds from a reputable seller, I made sure to germinate to their instructions. That way, in case I had a problem, I could tell them I did it the way they said. Turned out they germinated just fine using cup of water in a dark closet. But if you still have problems in the future, try the paper towel
I checked out @Hellraiser and he has some great stuff posted. I’m sure I can pick up some good knowledge from him. Thank you!
It’s a little cold yes.
Many buy a cheap heating Matt and set it to 77. Or you find a warm spot in the house like Ontop of the fridge or surround sound receiver lol.
Soak seeds for 20hr in a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water you can google for ratio but anything from 1/3 to 1/2 peroxide works to soften the shell and provide oxygen in the water.
Afte that soak take them out and plavee In Tupperware or ziplock bag with a paper towel that has the liquid in it. Damp not soaked because you don’t want to drowned the seedling, common mistake for people that soak to long.
Once you have a tail place it in a solo cup or better yet nursery bag with your medium. Ensure the medium was soaked recently and allowed to dry out just a tad so it’s not muddy or soggy.
Dome the container with a cut milk jug or 4L jug pop bottle to keep the humidity as high as possible until the plant has a set of leafs.
Then you can place it under a light breeze and a light.
Thanks. I appreciate the feedback!
Thanks, I will try a warmer area for my next germination try. I have 2 plants going, so once they finish I will start another grow. ILGM stepped up and offered to replace my seeds, plus some on top of that. They made me happy!
